Default Kindred Spirits price match ?

There is a ad in the Daily Sun for Kindred Spirits. Their ad states. "We are the BIGGEST KEG BUYER in the Villages community-we have a variety to chose from. We will be happy to match prices with any advertised price from ABC, Winn Dixie, Publix or Walmart." I called all four and none of them sell keg beer.
I got a price from Total Wine $63.99. I then called Kindred Spirits and spoke to Candy. She would not match that price or even come down from their price of $95.99 because Total Wine is not in the area. My question is what are they matching if they are the only one in the area that sells keg beer.
So off to Orlando we go. I dropped my wife off at Mall Of Millenia and I proceeded to Total Wine. She was happy and I was happy with my $63.99 keg.
Well worth the trip even counting gas and tolls

Sounds like the ads for mattresses. Just try to find the exact same mattresses model from another store for a price match.

Good for you! Nasty advertising practice.

Next time I will be happy to accompany your wife to Mall of Millenia (or however it is that they intentionally misspell it).

So my question is, if you don't shop around, does that mean they're not going to be competitive???

I buy mine at Kindred. Publix at southern trace sells kegs for a higher price but if you ask nicely, they will match Kindred.
Not worth my time to go to Orlando.

I would think buying beer by the Keg is a lot cheaper than bottled or can beer if you own a kegerator.

I took a quick look and there seem to be several things that people might be calling a barrel of beer.
A HALF BARREL is 15.5 gallons so 165 12 oz beers. I did not see anyone selling a full barrel.

Talk about a head scratcher-I recall reading that a barrel of oil comes from days of old when oil was shipped in beer barrels. If, I recall it is 42 gallons to the barrel. Is the barrel shrinking-inflation? Next thing you know we will go metric.

The original poster may have saved on the price of the beer but, I think there is a deposit on the empty keg so he will need/want to return it.. Two shopping trips for his wife. I expect it will be very expensive beer.

I believe Kindred is the biggest is because it is a Morse Family business and all leasees in The Villages selling alcohol are required to buy from them.

Even a half barrel is quite a bit. If it for a party I can see it being good. But if it's for a home with say one or two people drinking from it wouldn't it go flat by the time it's gone?

The standard size (half) keg is 15 gallons (1920 oz.) or 160 12 oz. glasses of beer. You do the math to see what the savings are.

That's about five and a half 30 packs. That a powerful lot of suds.
