Default How to get speed limit signs posted??

Does anyone know who to contact to get speed limit signs posted in your neighborhood?
We are in Fernandina and there are none posted on our street which is a fairly long street with a "dead a mans curve" on it. It has heavy traffic since everyone uses our street to get in and out of their streets. People fly down the street at what I would guess has to be about 30 miles an hour. They do not slow down for walkers or golf carts.
This is a tragedy waiting to happen! Slow down people!

If it's not posted the speed limit is 20 mph as per the signs when entering The Villages.

Many places now paint the speed limit on the road.

Although the numbers do need repainting occasionally, they do tend to catch one's attention more than signs at the side of the road.

Any thoughts?

I would suggest you go to your next district meeting and raise the question with your supervisors. If that is not successful contact your county road commission.

IMO, you probably won't see any speed limit or any other type of sign in a neighborhood. I would not like a sign with a post stuck in my front lawn. Like a previous poster said, unless otherwise posted, when entering TV, there are signs with 20 mph limits as a default limit for the entire development.

Bet you are on Abana.
We only use Abana in our golf cart as a short cut and that street can get pretty busy.

The sign will not slow people down. Call the sheriff.

Good idea! When the Sheriff's officers cite several cars for speeding - on a variety of days, it will quickly become known and speeding should stop.

Of course, they ould also be watching for golf carts going over 20 mph!

The people that live on your street will probably get the first tickets if someone calls the sheriff. That's typically what happens.
You could flip your house and live on a cul de sac.

Truthfully, I don't recall seeing signs stating the speed limit as 20 mph.
When I think of entering the Villages, I do it from a road that is 35 or 45 mph.
The 20 mph signs are for going around the round-abouts only.

There are 15 mph signs in my neighborhood (Hemingway).

What road do you use to enter TV?

I regularly come into The Villages from 466 and there is a clearly marked sign that states the speed limit in The Villages is 20 mph unless otherwise posted.

466 is a 45 mph road, Buena Vista is 35, Morse is 35, some side streets are posted 15, etc.

Same if you come in from the north on Buena Vista from Rt. 42.
