SECO interrupted service this past 30-40 days.... happening to you, or just a scam?
In the past 30-40 days as a property owner, I've received several notices from SECO (?) of interrupted service and then maybe 10-30 minutes later another text msg of restored service. Since I am not there I do not know that this is truly happening. Then yesterday I received a text msg: "Take a bite out of damaging surges and spikes with SECO Energy's Surge Mitigator surge protection product. Lease the Mitigator for only $5.95 per month or purchase for $349 installation free. Enroll today: Bitly | Page Not Found | 404. MSG & DATA RATES APPLY." This now seems like it could be a total scam...... anyone else actually getting interrupted service, repeatedly? Any ideas?

SECO is the best electric company I've ever had. In 8-1/2 years we've had one outage, it lasted maybe an hour. No problems during Hurricane Irma. My highest bill ever was last month, a very cold January and it was $94. Normally it's between $75 to $85 year round. I've never received any emails or texts from SECO.

Haven’t received anything like what OP posted. No outages either, so far.

What ever you do, do it over the phone with SECO. Sounds like a scam to me.

Our electricity went out this past Tuesday for about 40 minutes. I did get notices both out and back on. The surge protector is real. They put it on your meter and is 5.95 per month. They are worth every penny. This is the 2nd time in 2 years I have received these notifications. After the 1st is when I had them install the surge unit.

I also got the same text and assumed it was a scam. I am going to call and let them know.

I get them too. I believe it is legitimate.

I rent the surge mitigator. I had a loss because of a surge, and SECO paid for everything. However, the frequent power outages sound like a scam. If you want the surge protector, contact SECO directly, don't use an email link.

We had SECO when we lived in Duval. Never a problem. We are now in Pine Ridge so we have Leesburg utilities. Also no problem, I think you are being scammed. Don’t answer the idiots. If there was areal problem, they would contact directly.

I don’t think surge protectors have anything to do with outages. They just keep the surges in power from lightning strikes from ruining your electronic equipment. If someone is implying the having one will protect you from outages, then they are scamming you.
