Default Size of The Villages

I have seen several references to The Villages being about 32 square miles.

I would think it is much larger. First, there is all the "prehistoric" side across the golf cart bridge. Measure the mileage from Hwy 42 at the Marion County Sheriff station all the way down Buena Vista to 466A, cross 466A and go down to 40. Morse starts on 441/27 and goes all the way South to 40. East to West, it goes from the Lady Lake edge and Near Fruitland Park all the way into Wildwood town limits.

I know the edges are far from even for simple measurement - but the area is still length times width.

So what is the length and width? Certainly not the widest times the longest.

According to a VCDD Orientation that I attended ... after the planned expansion, The Villages will be 40 square miles.
They said it was about 12 miles North to South ... but varied a lot from east to west.
This workshop is held Thursdays at 10:00 at the District Office in the Lake Sumter Landing Square.

Districts 1-9 (the only ones with stats available on districtgov.org total 10,324.6 acres, which would equal 16.132 square miles.

It does seem large, but it really is only about 32 square miles. Kinda like San Francisco, which is only 52 square miles. You can pack a lot of great things into a very small space if the desire to do is there.

The Villages Florida

Is there a map that includes the undeveloped purchased land? This is from google maps. Does it seem correct to you? Is Lake Griffin almost as big as The Villages or does that blue area include a lot of swamp land not suitable for boating.

The Villages has/is building up to the northern side of 44 so that map does not reflect current southern borders.

Maps featuring new homes for sale appear every day in THE DAILY SUN. They show the current southern border.

The new Morse Blvd/SR44 intersection and adjancent Rohan Regional Rec Ctr construction are well underway.

Thank you for posting this information. This will be helpful in explaining to people in the Chicago area who ask about TV as far as size and population.
