Because the specification calls for a 33 byte readable code, nothing else.

I'm paying for the house in live on. Why should I be treated as a second class citizen? OWNERS OF FULL TIME RENTALS SHOULD HAVE TO GIVE US THEIR PERMANENT CARD FOR DURATION OF LEASE.

So, mister non owner. We have to change the system to accommodate your jacked up Silverado. I think not!

Our long term tenant of 9 years11 months had TWO Gate cards supplied by us.

Maybe your LANDLORD doesn’t LIKE YOU, since neighbors complain about the truck, and the possible anger issues from having to use a button :1rotfl:

So you’ve seen what all 33 bytes contain? Just because there is a specification for 33 bytes, doesn’t mean they are all being utilized. I worked in an industry where passive RFID systems were used. To ensure accuracy a check digit was used. The user didn’t see the check digit or have access to it. When the RFID code was activated, the check digit was calculated. If it did not match to the embedded check digit in the RFID tag, the transaction was rejected. Any “security” system is not going revel the existence of a security code or allow it to be copied.

Yes, using a Flipper Zero (Google

This type of card is widely used in old access control systems around the world. It's pretty dumb, stores only an N-byte ID and has no authentication mechanism, allowing it to be read, cloned and emulated by anyone.

I know what you are referring to but that technology is not in our cards from Y2K.

Important Gate System Update Notice – UPDATED INFORMATION
The District Government is implementing an update to our gate system to support future enhanced functionality.
Please note the following important information:
• Beginning JUNE 2024, the gate system will only operate with valid cards active in the system.
• This update to the card reader software does not affect the existing red button functionality. The red button can still be used to access gates throughout the community.
• If one of your cards is not working, please bring both cards that were originally issued as a pair to one of our offices for assistance.
Our offices are located at:
• NORTH SATELLITE OFFICE 1200 Avenida Central in La Hacienda
• DISTRICT CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER 984 Old Mill Run in Lake Sumter Landing
• SOUTH SATELLITE OFFICE 4856 S. Morse Blvd. just south of SR 44
Please contact Customer Service at 352-753-4508 or visit one of our offices to determine if your card needs replacement.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to upgrade our community's access system.

Owned in TV for almost 3 years now and never used the ‘resident’ entrance. I don’t even understand the point of 2 lanes 🤷🏻*♀️ Clearly understand the reason for gates. Safety for everyone. Please help me understand the resident/non resident point

IMHO, at the manned gates, the non resident lane is closest to the attendant and they can quiz the person about what they are doing, offer directions to their destination, etc., at the Morse gate (just north of 466) I never use the resident gate due to the high traffic flow, the merging of the cars, and the occasional golf cart straying into traffic from the right.

Gates that have employees in gate houses have a visitor's gate to assist visitors. It's a customer service thing, and a visual deterrent against crime (notice I didn't say prevention, I used the word deterrent intentionally). When people see someone is WATCHING you, they're less likely to do something stupid - like plow the gate down on purpose because they can't be bothered pushing a red button.

Topspinmo 06-01-2024 09:33 PM

What makes difference if you can just push red button?

When the cards were cloned this extra code was not copied. The folks that have the cloned disk in their mirrors will not work. We will find out real soon. It will be exciting to watch and read!

I've worked with RFID tech for 20+ years. Programmed cards, wrote code, etc.

Where are you getting any of this? What the heck is a "imbedded passive RF code"? If you don't know how to spell embedded properly, then there's zero chance you have much technical knowledge on this subject.

The cloned cards will still work.

TEXJK 06-02-2024 04:40 AM

When the new system is finally implemented ……and god forbid someone’s current card or their cloned card doesn’t work the bitching and complaining and comments to come will be surpass any dog s#/+ thread ever posted

gbs317 06-02-2024 04:51 AM

Now if they can only update the golf registration/request system…. but that is a story for another time.

ithos 06-02-2024 05:09 AM

I would not want a system where non residents would have to be queried in some fashion before granted entry. This would just slow things down for everybody. The developers got this one right.

And isn't it true that photos are taken each time a vehicle enters and they have been used to catch thieves?
