Default Establishing Primary Residence

We'll be closing on a new home in TV in early March and want to establish Florida as our primary residence. Does anyone know what is required for this?
I know it helps to register a car in Florida. Will I need any inspections? I'll only have one vehicle with me but have a couple more up north. Makes it difficult to have them inspected when they're 1000 miles away.
I'd just like to have any paperwork with me to get everything done with as little stress as possible.
What about drivers licenses? Do I go to a local DMV for the registrations and licenses or are there alternatives?
Thanks for any advice.

In addition to all the standard issues of Drivers Licence, car registration, voter registration, at least 182 days in FL, the BIGGEST standard you will need to prove is intent to give up your northern residence as primary and make florida your primary. This is especially true if you are leaving a High Tax state such as New York. Where will you file your federal taxes from, are you eventually planning to sell your northern home and if so how will you handle the federal tax aspect...(you can only have 1 primary residence for IRS tax purposes and it must be your primary residence for at least 2 of 5 years to avoid federal taxes of its sale). You also can only declare a homestead exemption in one state
Its not the IRS (see above)or the state of FLorida you have to be concerned about, its the state you now live in

Not sure when the "nuts and bolts" thread was updated but Florida recently added more required personal/official information for drivers license. They also will register you to vote at the registry of motor vehicles. Don't worry about an the auto inspection, Fl does not have one (which to me defies logic given the heavy, blinding rain storms down here and the possibility that someone defective windshield wipers, lights etc.)
