I've been using the drive-thru car washes for years and have found them to be just fine. Where once upon a time, drive-thru car washes used revolving brushes that would scratch the car surface, they now use cloth strips. The recently opened car wash on Parr Drive has the best vacuum system around. I believe the price is $10 for a basic car wash, and they don't accept cash payment; everything is by credit card. The only problem I see with this particular business is its location. Seldom do I see more than one or two cars in the vacuum area, so I expect them to be out of business if traffic doesn't pick up. Try them, I don't think you'll regret it.

A 5 second Google search revealed several answers to your question from automotive and EV experts. Yes it's safe or to quote one of the experts " it would be useless if you couldn't get an EV wet."

Whatever you do, don't go to the Circle K Carwash in Wildwood...it punctures tires! Had a coupon for a free car wash there that ended up costing 130.00 for a new tire. You get trapped in there and when you finally make it out the exit there are a pile of old tires there...no doubt left from all the people who came before and got their tires punctured too. It's all automated so there's nobody to even complain to.

I have an EV I can't take my car to a regular car was, but it's not because it's an EV, but because it has a mat finish. Is that what you are addressing? If so, you really don't have to take it to a car wash, I haven't taken my car to the car wash in a year, you just need a decent amount of water pressure and a rag.

Just make sure you know how to put it in neutral. For non-EV owners, that might sound basic, but it's not if your car has regenerative braking. Also, check the owner's manual for "car wash mode". It might have one that puts it in neutral folds in the mirrors, etc.

OP here - NOT my question. Asked if any washes in the TV area are safe and easy. I know my EV is designed to use automatic car washes, even tho it's not recommended. Just wanted input from TOTV users of car washes here, esp EVs. Some may not accept EVs or not have equipment that is safe and effective. Desired input from those knowledgeable...

I have a hybrid. I've been using Sweetwater Car Wash on 466A for 4 years with no problems. I have a subscription for the most basic car wash which does not include the underbody wash. I had the same model hybrid overseas and used a similar car wash for 5 years. I've never had an issue.

Can only speak for Tesla. Simply press Car Wash Mode and the car preps everything including putting car in rolling mode and folds mirrors turns off auto wipers and a multitude of other functions. When thru the wash press the mode again and all restores.have never used it up to now. But it’s simple.
