Thank you!
You hit the nail on the head.
You've said it all in far fewer words than I.

Duh!
Just because they may have been here initially,
does not mean that they will always perform a good or logical function.

Many things look good on paper but in reality, they may not work well.

It might be a good time to sit down and enjoy about 10 bags or so.
That's how long it would take to read through all this nonsense!!!

I think one should live here for at least a year and see a bunch of two for one happy hour incidents before deciding on this issue. It slows people down and inconveniences them...but....... I think they are a good thing, the gates.

I do not know where the claims of $1,000,000 to operate gates comes from, heck it may be more or it may be less? I also do not know who has had the opportunity to be privy to police investigative reports to be able to boldly state that zero burglaries solved because of security at the gate?

One in my view has to look at the gates for what they are deterrents and an attempt at control entry and exits and lastly an opportunity on the main gates to be properly greeted and for visitors given direction upon request. The only way to be sure is to have a study conducted but then people would just refute the study anyway.

I could see how non-residents would object but why would residents? However, it would seem residents would welcome the gates because they produce more positives than negatives. there is one exception in my view the gate at Paradise. That should not be a gate but a wall.

I agree.

Can you imagine how many golf carts would drive out and get in the circles.

If the Paradise gate was a wall, how would people get in and out of The Villages? By using any gate minus one? How did man survive when it was just a hole in the wall? How has life improved with the gate in place?

The gates in TV are very effective in serving multi purposes. One of the most successful ones seem to be irritating some of its residents.

We know the roads in TV are open to the public, how then can the sign at the Del Mar gate say Residents Only??

I have often wondered the same thing. I have had visitors balk at that gate and go on down to the gate on rio grande taking them out of their way to find me! Who would a guy call for that answer Bogie?

There are "Residents Only" signs all over TV. The technical term for them is "Unenforceable."

You can put a "No Solicitors" sign on your front door. It can't keep people from ringing your doorbell.
