Default Expanding Golf Cart Garage Door

My apologies if this question has already been asked and answered as it would seem to me that many people must have thought about doing this, but I can't seem to find the exact question and answer in my search. I have a block house with a two car and golf cart garage. The golf cart garage is large enough for a car, in fact it is large enough for a car and the golf cart back to back with getting the car in through the two car door. But the cart garage door is not quite wide enough to get the car through that way. (without folding in the mirrors and having someone guide me in with a half inch on each side). I don't need to or want to expand the garage. And I don't have a tree or masonry or anything in the way of getting a car in through that door. All I want to do is install a regular one car garage door, or at least a slightly wider door in place of the golf cart door which would require cutting a little block on each side. Additionally, if a full size standard one car garage door would be too much of a change for some reason, such as not leaving enough wall on each side of the door or something, then just a four inch wider door (two inches on each side) would be enough. Has anyone done this and are there any problems encountered that are beyond how simple it would seem this job should be? Honestly, I don't know why TV didnt build them this way to allow for the flexibility of a cart or a car?

Thanks for info, could you give a ballpark $amount? Was it worth the hassle with contractor, or did it increase your home value selling?
