Default Farmer's markets

My husband and I are coming down in a couple of weeks and love to go to the farmers markets. We're staying in Bonita, and was wondering if there are any in the Villages or near by. thanks

I believe the Wildwood market is still operating on Saturdays. Sounds like it might have been moved inside for the summer. I have not been there yet.

Not truly a Farmer's Market, but Markets of Marion is open on the weekends and has a fresh produce section.

Default check Wildwood

In June (my last visit), I saw one advertised in Wildwood - from an earlier article, I think this is its first year. I think it's on Saturdays. You might want to google it, or check the Daily Sun if no one else responds with better info. Didn't get a chance to go.

I personally think the open air market on 466 near Rolling Acres is mostly on the expensive side, and you can't always buy small quantities. There's another one on 301 a few miles north or the villages, haven't tried it yet - Brown's? Anyone?

When we first visited Lake Sumter Landing about 4 years ago, there used to be fresh vegetables/fruit on Market nights (Tues/Thursday, I think) in the covered area along the shore of Lake Sumter, but haven't seen that since Sweetbay opened - maybe part of the deal with Sweetbay? Don't know.

The Wildwood one is on Saturday, and I think Ocala has on on Monday.

My wife and I have tried Brown's 2 different times. We were disappointed both times. High prices and a lot of stuff that they obviously didn't grow. We got tomatoes that tasted like the ones from the grocery store, and we bought what they said was fresh siver queen corn. It was nothing but blisters. There couldn't have been more than 1/4 cup of corn from 4 ears. We should have checked it at the market, but never suspected they would be so careless as to be selling corn like that. We consider it an inexpensive lesson and have no intentions of buying from them again.

It's an attractive place, though.

On Tuesday mornings there is a market at Lady Lake that only allows locally grown produce to be sold, right after you turn right from 466 onto 441/27 on the right. We have gotten a lot of good veggies there.

Market of Marion and Webster Flea Market are something you really should see at least once. While both are 20 to 30 minutes away the veggy and fruit selection/prices are about the best we have seen.

I love the Marion Mkt. The fresh vegies, fish and plants and herbs that you can get are terrific. They offer samples as you walk up and down the aisles. Works for us cause we buy.....

TY.

I thought that was their summer schedule but their website indicated they were open Fri - Sun.

Corrected previous post.

Default market of marion

fabulous.
we are from the phila area and thought we had great farmer's markets....
zern's in gilbertsville cannot hold a candle to marion.
the reading terminal market in phila is awesome.....but so upscale.
marion is terrific, with the best produce around...
get there nearer to closing time and the prices really drop on produce.

Bonita is fairly close to Wildwood. Straight down Canal the right on 466a to 301. Much closer than markets of Marion. Good luck and welcome to Bonita.
