With all the media stories about TV specifically it’s growth, etc. no doubt Costco has looked and decided not to locate to this area. The demographics no doubt don’t match their requirements and they know not everyone likes to shop at Costco, so that includes many who reside in this geo area

What you may not know is that Costco, BJ's, Sam's, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc. have such buying power that they work on a GROSS profit margin of about 25%. After expenses, the NET profit is about 10-15%. Here, in The Villages, the Developer charges these companies rent based on a percentage of their profit. This is not unusual - many places do this. Now you know why WalMart fights against unionization, why there are no WalMarts in New York City and why there were no Walmarts in New Hampshire until the 1990's.

Tropical Chicken
I came to TV from 30+ years in Tampa. They have several Pollos there and I can tell you each one is different. Same menus but it all depends on the cooks and servers. The one I preferred was very tasty. All of their meats are flame cooked on stainless grills. Very clean all of them.

We recently spoke to a Bucky's employee. A large part of the location decision is based on permits because they have so many gas pumps..

I don't get Buc-ees. It's just an over-blown Seven Eleven. Been there, but didn't get the hype.

Free market happens - does anybody cook anymore? very few - Heard on the news that a Walmart on H street in Washington DC is closing - a Walmart !!! - they said it was because the store did not meet financial expectations - LOL what a joke - I feel to much free/stolen product walking out the door

Having experienced the opening of two Buc-ees and continuing to stop at them numerous times after...I can say the brisket was good when they opened, but the quality declined as time went by. Nothing like 3 pieces of mushy fat on a bun. Now I just get gas and a fluid change. |
