Default Fence Board Disposal

I am contemplating replacement of the 1x6in X 16 ft boards which are on the fence surrounding my property in the villages. The fence was installed by the villages. I have called the County Road 466A land bill as well as the Sumter county land fill they will not take the board if they are painted or pressure treated. Any ideas of how to dispose of them?

If the fence was installed by the villages you need to make real sure that you can do maintenance on this. IMHO, I would call property maintenance to see WHO has maintenance responsibility for the fence. As for disposal I have no ideas except regular trash?

Be wary of landfills. My last trip cost $200. Two roofing nails in the left front tire.

I believe every District has a FENCE MATRIX (also a wall matrix). I would find yours if I were you. It will tell you who is responsible for the fence.

Is the fence damaged in any way, think that would make a difference regarding allowing disposal

Be careful, you could end up replacing the fence.

The fence behind our home is maintained by The Villages. They come through about once a year to inspect and paint/replace boards. However, there are several of us who paint the fence since The Villages only does that about once every 3 years. I would be careful about removing the fence since you will probably be billed for replacing it.

Put the boards out by the curb, things around here disappear in about 30 minutes… be ready for litigation with ARC ( why instigate a fight)

I was trimming the hedge on the other side of the fence and one day a rep from the villages knocked on my door and said the dense and hedge belong to The Villages and nothing is to be attached to the fence and I was not suspose to be trimming the hedge — you have been warned!!!

Simple before you remove or replace any builder installed fencing or other outdoor lights etc. I strongly suggest you contact Architectural Review Committee (ARC). If you can't find their direct number in your phone book call the District Office 352.753.4508.

You need ARC approval. They may not allow it. Check first.

Are they the black/dark wood boards that are mounted horizontally front 4x4 posts? If so, I would cut them up into small pieces(one foot), put them in black plastic garbage bags and let trash take them.

This most likely is poor advice.

What exactly are you contemplating replacing them with? If you didn't install them to begin with I suggest you contact whomever installed them to get their opinion.
