Default Cost for Garage Addition

We just made settlement on a home with a 2 car garage. We would like to add on to accomodate the golf cart. Has anyone added one to their home and if so, was it very pricey?

I have received estimates from $14k to $17k. Friend recently had one done for $17.5.

The first question is will the lot accommodate the addition? I was recently told by my agent that the ball park figure for the golf cart garage is about $20k. That includes the price for an oversize lot and the addition on a new build.

Yes, the Architectural Review Board can determine whether you have room for the addition. The addition has to be a certain distance from property line/easement lines; I don't remember the exact figures.

Neighbor down the street has an Amarillo and put the golf cart garage on the house side of his garage (Where the courtyard is) since he did not have enough room on the grass side.

Be sure to consider whether you will really need two cars! I know of practically no one with two cars, here. That'll give you space for two golf carts and a car!

Wife and I have 2 cars here......never was a car more superfilous than the 2nd.

Rarely use it and then only to get it out for a drive. I would sell it but can't bear to part with it!(1998 conv.. Mustang) Wife does not like to drive it and when I drive a car it's usually to do errands where the van works better.

Any joy rides done in golf cart!

Hi Deb133,

tpop1 and swrinfla make an excellent point as usual. It might be wise to live here for a while and then decide about the golf cart garage.

Whatever you do...

I'm excited for you and know you will love it here! All the best in your new home.
