Remember, you are now living in the South. Southerners have SOUTHERN PRIDE! If this offends you, you should have moved to a state in the North,.

It’s called free speech. Let them be them and you be you. 😎

It is not racist. Soldiers fought for the South and died. Their decendants are still proud of them, just the same as any soldier that died in any other war. Florida is a southern state. Be proud that you are living in a southern state where soldiers fought for what they believed in.

Not aweful, but patriotic for southerners to show support for American soldiers that died fighting for what they believed in well over a hundred years ago. If you live in a southern state, be proud of the confederate flag.

Or maybe it’s distasteful because it was the flag of traitors to the United States of America…the Civil War was an armed insurrection with the express intent of destroying America.

If what you say is true, and I assume you would know, then you do know those soldiers died because their side wanted to succeed from The United States of America, and form a new country where you were allowed to enslave another person to farm your crops and do other duties exclusively for you. Am I missing anything here?

Do you think the average southern soldier was rich enough to own slaves?

You are missing a great deal.

And many of those were called to arms from the south, had no choice. They had No slaves, zero education of reading or writing, and only had the knowledge of what was told to them.

Those who choose not to leave their family for the cause, they had very little knowledge of, were to be shot. Yes my family is from the south, our family men who were taken to war, never returned home, it was a given they died.

What happened to women and children left on the farms as the North moved south, was unspeakable, the words passed down from my Great grandmother, ( she lived to 104 sharp until the day she died) then to us as children

Great Great grandmother, and her sister were the only ones left to live, all others, after things she would not speak of, we’re hung in the barn. She believed mother, aunts and older sister, and 2 brothers were alive when they were hung, but had hoped they were not.

My Great grandmother was proud of her southern roots, her native mixed heritage, and her family that sacrificed their lives,

We have my great grandmothers saddest times, and her happy times recorded. so her children’s children, and so on, will know the proud family she came from, and the sacrifices she faced.

So have very good knowledge of the war, passed down from our generation’s, with a confederate flag that many never witnessed in person, and none of which had ever owned slaves.

Just like the majority of the men who were taken to war, died, and now like another generation who fought for their country, and died were not recognized for their sacrifice.

Can you name that war for the second time in history veterans came back to hate and discriminated against for fighting a war they had no control of?
