Default First Sarah, now George W.

Now that Sarah Palin fulfilled the developer's pressing request for an appearance here in The Villages, Sunday afternoon; the Morse Family will hold up their end of the bargain with a big Republican Party Fund Raiser here at the Polo Grounds on Wednesday Sept. 24th. Guest speaker? None other than George W. himself.

Ain't that dandy? Well although I am a fence straddler at this moment, it sure doesn't look like they had to hire '"stand ins" for the Sarah Palin speech crowd.

OH. I thought you meant George Washington! Sorry. He died didn't he? I'm not good at politics.

Default What?!?!?

Can someone confirm this? Is this just a rumor? I would think they would need a few more days to set up something like this?

Will having Palin or George W. here change anybody's mind? Speaking here is like preaching to the choir. No Democrat will change their mind and no Republican will either. It only solidifies our position when the other side tries to ram their program down our throats. It is interesting to note that "change" is a liberal word but the McCain camp has picked up on that. Conservatives don't subscribe to change. Look it up in the dictionary.

Nomadman, there's no ramming. Listen if you want, tune out if you want. The one thing these settings bring to the common people is the opportunity to see and listen to their candidate. Washington D.C. is a very remote thought for most people and being able to see candidates in person makes one feel much more involved in the process. People traveled quite a distance in some instances to watch Sarah Palin's speech. I assume many people are also traveling distances to hear Barrack Obama as he has been working the state also. It's a one of the great privileges of being a citizen of the USA.

Having them here doesnt mean you will get to hear them and listen to what they will do. You will hear what is written for them to tell you. Now have a town hall meeting and let questions be asked by anyone that is allowed to attend. Then you will hear something. Let the candidate hear what you want to know about and see what the response is. I dont want to hear about someone being a POW again therefore he would make the best choice. Heck i thought we had someone a few years back that basically dodged the draft and the country ran better than it has going way back.. I am undecided as of this point. But i keep hearing palin and company talk about the other side will raise taxes. but to me, if your paying 700 billion to bail out everyone in the world, someone has to pay it. it is my understanding it will be tax payers. so i dont have a mouse in my pocket with that kind of green backs, so sound to me like taxes are on the rise. Just a thought though..

Default Too bad we could not get Obama/Biden here in TV.

I must be really crazy to suggest this. Guess they would need too much security here for Obama/Biden in TV with all the rabid Republicans around. Kind of like throwing a rabbit into the large dog section at Doggie Doo Run Run??

Or Sarah Palin showing up at the Emmys the other night would be another analogy. Now there would be a tough room.

GMoney, if only Mr. Obama would have agreed to those town hall meetings.... we would all have a much clearer idea of our candidates. I believe Mr. McCain's reference to being a POW was for him to illustrate how important this country is to him and the freedom it represents. Let's face it, he doesn't need the money and he has fame already. That town hall meeting, which is being avoided like the plague by Mr. Obama, would give us the opportunity to see the candidates up front and VERY real.

As far as our taxes going up, and yes they will, let's hope that's the worst thing that happens at this point. The US financial system is in a very tenuous position right now and complete failure would be worse than anything we can imagine.

I agree with you 100% five times over... i was refering to the deal candidates come speak so you can hear them thing,,,, your not hearing anything you didnt hear from RNC or DNC. But on the other hand with the POW deal, there were alot of POW'S that had it worse than him, does that make them better than him, no. just dont keep bringing that up as the main part of the speech everytime. we all know he served, i did for 13 years also. that doesnt make me a better choice than the next. Our economy is and should be the main issue. dont matter who is in office, the Iraq deal is not top priority. I guess bill gates or ole warren would make a better choice due to their financial success also. ok you got me on this one..

Default Polo Field Fund Raiser

This event is not being used to sway people to vote for McCain/Palin. This is a political fund raiser to raise more money for the 2008 Republican presidential campaign. At $5000 a plate, I don't think you will see too many fence-sitters there.

Don't look for much in the Daily Sun tomorrow. It's a private party. The paper will probably have to publish something on Thursday since the White House Press Corps will probably be here too.

Did I mention that Jeb Bush will do the introductions?

Does anyone other than Skip have ant information about this supposed fund raiser today at the Polo Field? Now I cannot be sure of this, but I heard the Morse family was using our amenity fees to enclose the entire facility in an air conditioned dome for the comfort of the high rollers. This might be pure BS, but it's as viable as a lot of other statements of fact and/or rumors on here.
