Default "Fitted" Sheets

I absolutely hate the sheet industries new "fitted" bottom sheets. I do not want any of their excuses for depth of mattress sizing. I want tailored sheets that do not bunch up after a few days. Ugh. Any one know of a company that makes the "old-fashioned" tailored bottom sheets not the all around elastic kind?

Are you looking for flat sheets? Amazon has oodles of them; I assume other companies do too.

I would shop carefully for size. As I recall, flat sheets work better as a bottom sheet if they have plenty of material to tuck under the mattress.

As an "If all else fails..." in college I decorated my place with lawn furniture. A nice chaise lounger, no sheets needed. The lounger get dirty just hose it off.

They make elastic straps with spring clips(alligator clips?) that go under the mattress and clips to the sheet to hold it taut. They are kind of like the old fashioned garter belt. As we get older, making a bed with fitted corners becomes very cumbersome and exhausting. And if they are not fitted properly, they tend to spring loose when one is sleeping and become rumpled under the sleeping individual. I empathize with the OP.

I am frustrated with the same issue OP....however, I'm sticking with the fitted bottom sheet until I achieve my 2022 New Years goal:

being able to fold fitted sheets, by myself, so that they look respectable

(This has been one of my annual New Year's goal going back to the late '70's...)

Sorry, but that is physically impossible to do...

In the last several years I posted about Boll and Branch fitted sheets and how great they were. Boy was I wrong. Not worth the money as they don't hold up well over time. If I remember correctly it really got heated and there was an argument over used sheets being sold on eBay or something like that? These sheets just won't hold the corner of the bed. Neither will the replacement set that Boll & Branch sent. Why can't anything be simple? It's a set of bedsheets! Reminds me of the Light Bulb post the other day.

How many Villagers does it take to put a sheet on a bed?

The feel of the sheets is worth twice the price the functionality of the sheets kills the thrill.

I like the SleepNumber fitted sheets. They have a wide elastic band that connects the edges at the corners UNDER the mattress, in addition to the elastic edges themselves. So the sheet won't slide around at all. The downside, is they're only available in complete sheet sets, and the flat sheets are too narrow to tuck in properly. If the flat sheets were maybe just 4 inches wider the sets would be perfect.

Easy Peezy fix I have used for YEARS after finding in some random magazine.

Take your current sheets and 4 golfballs (like finding 4 of those here would be an issue, right?)

As you put each corner on the bed, tuck one golfball inside each far corner, on the underside of the sheet, as far into the corner as possible.

Do one side of the bed (top and bottom) then the other side.

Immediate pressure induced tight sheets for your sleeping enjoyment regardless of how restless a sleeper you are. And FYI, YES, works on adjustable bedding as well.

When ordering the sheets list what depth mattress that they fit. If you buy a sheet that fits a 20" mattress and yours is 12", yes you will get a lot of bunching. It's like buying shoes. Size 8 feet and size 12 shoes aren't going to be a good fit.

I really don't know what the heck you guys are talking about, you must be monsters in bed at night twisting and turning etc or whatever else you do in bed. But if you really want a solution, buy flat sheets, and get a tailor or seamstress to sew on whatever elastic you decide you want whether it's half inch or 5 in or 2 ft wide pieces and then you'll have your own solution that you can sell on Amazon to everybody else. What really matters to me simply is how comfortable the fabric feels and honestly if this is your worst complaint, then you're doing pretty well in life. After all you live here don't you?

The best set I have, came from Sheex, it was the Copper line. The it was stretch material that was easy to put on, never wrinkled and felt silky. The problem was they no longer sell that line, maybe they were too expensive. I did find an alternative from Purple, not as good and the fitted sheet unfortunately has the very problem you're trying to avoid. I would check with Sheex to see if they will bring back the Copper line.

I just look at Sheex again and they have a line called Midnight Label Sheet Set.
They look like the old Copper line, but what is different is there is a chart showing the depth in inch per size of the sheet. In other words, a twin fitted sheet is 14" in depth vs a king which is 20". I don't know if this will solve the issue but take a look. If it's not what you need return them.

I got a set of sleep numerous sheets 10 years ago....came with the bed. Still holding tight, and boy are they SOFT. Hope they never wear out. I only keep 2 sets now and the other is an old percale set. Like them too.
