Fl.Resident Tax Deductions?
I'm a new Fl. resident and I do my own taxes. Where can I find, or could you tell me of any deductions for Fl. residents, e.g. I heard of a senior citizen exemption?
Thanks! ps I'm not a landlord. |

Your asking laymen for advice on filing your taxes? There is free professional help for seniors if you search for it.

No state income tax, just federal taxes. I agree with above, there are free tax services for simple returns, do a search. Also, HR Block and a few others offer free online tax return prep for simple returns.

Your Federal taxes will follow the same rules as the state you lived in. You will have to file a part time resident return with the state you moved from and that will be your final tax return to that state unless you have business property in the state. Be sure to file for the homestead exemption for your Fl real-estate taxes. Check your county real estate tax collectors site for info. |

Filing Federal Taxes for 2018 is a “whole new ball game”. New rules, different deductions, etc. etc. Some will likely pay less and some might be shocked that they may pay more.
