Default Nirvana

A few days ago I posted for the first time on TOTV discussing an undesirable situation involving a construction crew renting in my villa neighborhood. As pointed out at the time this was not part of what I bought into when first we moved to TV and thought it quite appropriate to alert others of the possibility this might one day effect them as well. Nothing I said was untrue or exaggerated as subsequently proven by other posters who added to the thread. The first of August arrived and voila, evidently the construction job was done, the lease expired, and the premises vacated. Nirvana is again in balance. The reason for this post is to take issue with many of the long term participants on this forum who at worst implied in responding to the thread that I was a troll and liar ( or was it a toad and liar ) for implying all might not be as ideal in TV as suggested in the propaganda forthcoming from the developer on a daily basis. At best, it was also suggested my usage of some common English words was politically incorrect and designed to be deliberately inflammatory. Note that no pejoratives were used, only words that have been in common usage for the last couple of centuries. The point is, TV is really a nice place to live but from my personal perspective does not constitute " Heaven on Earth " and I take exception to being castigated for not believing that it does. With respect to my choice of words, note the use of " propaganda " above. Look it up in Webster's. It is not a pejorative, or is it intended to be inflammatory though I have no doubt some will view it as such. To quote or paraphrase Jonathan Swift " There are none so blind as those who refuse to see ". I do think this old adage, in thinking about most internet forums, does have some application. As far as being a troll or toad, yes I have some warts, just like TV and freely admit to it though TV never will.

Good to hear everything worked out! Maybe instead of their work being done, maybe it was the over 17,000 views of the original thread (last time I looked) that caused the contractor to pull his workers out of the two villas. I did hear they were caught working on a car which was up on supports in the street! I am glad normalcy has returned to your villa neighborhood!

Glad to hear it all worked out, although it obviously generated a lot of stress at the time. Hope it is all smooth sailing for you from now on.

Here is your post about this problem;

"When my wife and I first purchased our courtyard villa we knew all of the villa developments included rental properties and we thought some of those might be leased to full time residents and others during " the season " be rented to grandparents and couples on vacation with perhaps a few also being let to younger families. That was precisely the case until now.

What we did not bargain for was the rental villas being used as rented " bunk houses " for labor gangs consisting of 30 year old males all driving pick ups who are working either for the developer or the other commercial entities within the Villages area. That is exactly what is happening in our villa neighborhood and it is something the Village relator is probably not going to mention when trying to sell you a house.

Evidently some of the speculator owners do not care along with their rental agencies about this as long as the monthly rent check continues to arrive in the mail. This situation might exist with some of the less expensive designer home rentals as well.

We just keep watching the oil spots in the driveways of the units in question grow in size. "

Were you able to contact the owners of the property to see what they had to say?

I wonder if Rivaridge was able to ask the owners of the property involved for clarification about this situation.

If you log on to sumterpa.com you are able to see who owns property.

I think when you run into a troubling situation that you should do everything in your power to gather information as to who is causing it.

We do not have any rules about renting that I am aware of, other than the deed restrictions about children under 19 staying no longer than thirty days.

I do not, nor have I ever rented out property. We rented a home here when the second one was being built. We rented from friends who knew us.

IMO renting out in retirement communities should not be allowed, why? Slumlords eventually move in. Having your grown children should have limitation. Once they comment felony they should get the boot. Why? A retirement communtity should pacific for retired people, not slumlords, out of work sponges, freeloaders or crinmals. How do you like them apples

I think it should be "atlantic" to us, the above 55 folks. But people do own their property and at this point those are the rules or lack thereof... MOST people living here have good sense, good values and good morals and also have raised good children.

Many owners in The Villages purchase real estate as an investment or retirement income. I see posters recommend that potential Villagers rent before purchasing. Some people in The Villages rent full time for years because they, for whatever personal reasons, don't want to own a house. I doubt slumlords would purchase in The Villages in my lifetime; it has the wrong income demographic. But it's always good to worry about the extreme.

I don't think slum lords are going to invest this kind of money in the Villages. Too many inexpensive places they could buy.

If rentals were banned in The Villages, what would the impact be on potential future buyers? Some potential buyers want to do a "test drive" and rent one or maybe a few times in TV before selling their home up north and moving 1,000+ miles away from family and friends. I have rented in TV several times since 2011. I have no criminal record in any state, and I am gainfully employed. I did not break any laws during my visits to The Villages. I wish I could be a Villager right now, but family commitments in the Midwest keep me here for the present. Please don't generalize all renters in TV as out-of-work sponges, freeloaders or criminals. Thank you.
