I will be hosting two visitors from France in mid June. I fear language communication will be a problem. Is there a French club in the Villages ??

More French speak at least conversational English than people think. I know they say 40% but it is definitely higher.
Failing that...what will a French Club do for you? You mean you are going to learn by mid June? Get someone to translate hand signals? Just get some frozen frogs legs. You will be fine. And Jerry Lewis DvDs. They love Jerry Lewis. |

Many French people speak passable English. The local library systems here in the Villages have language resources which have native speakers of the language you are trying to learn giving free lessons. These are fun.

The Sumter county library has a free conversational language program, Mango, available that you can access on your smartphone. By June, you should be able to learn enough French to at least show you made the effort. Between that, a phrasebook and Google Translate and your visitors' probable English, you should be fine.

As an aside, I worked 11 years for Societe Generale and was in France often. I don't speak a word of French and never had an issue in France. Everyone there was extremely gracious and helpful. I hope your visitors have a great time.

Do you actually know if your visitors have any English? What age are they and what city in France do they live in?
If elderly and from the countryside, they may not know much English. If from one of the larger cities, they probably do unless very elderly. If they're young people... pfft! They will know enough English. They may not even be very interested in connecting with other French speakers. They may be more interested in experiencing the USA.
