Default Front door peeling problem

Our home is just over a year old and the wood grain finish that was placed on what I think is a fiberglass front door is peeling. Has anyone had a similar problem? i'm thinking of getting it painted instead of trying the wood grain again. Has anyone used a painter who has done exterior doors that are not wood?

I am not in TV but in Arkansas with a fiberglass door that we used a wood stain on when we built in 2001. It gets a lot of direct sunlight in the afternoon and the stain did not hold up. We did paint it last year in a color similar to the stain we used originally. I would go for the paint and forget the stain after my experience with it on fiberglass. Good luck and there are a lot of references for good painters on TOTV, if you do a search.

Did you contact home warranty? Might be worth a try.

Yes I did call home warranty. They said it was out of warranty and gave me the name of the original painter to contact. No thanks.

Good information but I do not have a storm door. I understand now that the original stain should have had a second coat.

Don't you just love that Len? He painted my entire house and it was a most pleasant experience. He first had to fix a very bad job done by another "so called" painter.

The paint manufacturer may have a warranty longer than one year.
