Default Golf Carts / AZTECA LOOP ... BEWARE!!

Seems that they need more $$$ to waste on $25 million fire depts (Orlando), and other Gov waste while the tickets help Gov waste revenue and honest working guy just continues to get hammered!!

Stop Signs in Azteca Loop are now over $200 and the motorcycle cop can't write them fast enough. I've counted 13 tickets this morning and it's still early!

Looks like they could write a WARNING and then write the tickets but 1st time offenders pay the price.

I'd be willing to bet those "1st time offenders" have run the stop sign before - it happens every day all over TV.

Where do you draw the line?

It's okay to run the stop sign.

It's okay to let 4 kids ride on the cart, two of them like golf club bags.

it's okay to let your 11 year old grandchild take the cart out for a drive.

It's okay to drive your cart at 25+mph.

It's okay hit a pedestrian (because they were on your "cart path").

And on and on.

If they ran the stop sign they broke the law. Every time they ran it, not just the time they got caught.

I had an employee get killed on the job in a motor vehicle accident. They weren't wearing a seat belt. (Violation of state law and company safety policy.) They didn't get a ticket. They paid a much bigger price. Maybe the cart drivers getting the tickets won't accidentally pull into that intersection and get creamed tomorrow.

Simple solution................stop sign /stop
I am glad to see some enforcement being done here. Way too many think they do not have to drive in a safe manner.
Lets get some of those on bikes also!

Not to say that I disagree, but I understood that Azteca loop (and other villa streets) was private property, not a public road and cops had no authority to write tickets for stop sign violations.

$200 sounds pretty high.seems like they are in it for the money.

A stop sign is a stop sign....you must come to a complete STOP!

At this time of year, there is considerably move traffic and a stop sign gives the driver, car or cart, the time to merge into traffic safely.

Can't agree that the honest guy gets hammered....if he stops, he won't be hammered, literally or figuratively.

What's your beef with the fire department? We have a great one here..fire and rescue. Just yesterday, they were called to a neighbor who was in need. I felt better knowing that she was tended to quickly.

ChattanoogaTN,
Thank you for posting the photos. Last week I mentioned to a friend that I saw a motorcycle police officer writing a citation to a woman in a golf car at that very area in the Savannah Rec. Ctr. parking lot. I suggested that it must have been for a stop sign violation but he said it was probably a "fender-bender".
Since that day, I have stopped at every stop sign in town. Yeah, I know, I should have been doing that all along ..... but I am now. All it took was the boys in blue for me to take heed. And, yes, I'm glad to see them in the neighborhoods as well as along the busy roads.

Well..... To start, cars have to beware too. The fine is the same for cars and carts.

I can't figure out your %itch with the Fire Dept. You will have to grow a pair
and just say it.

Honest working guy getting hammered - let's say someone has a hammer and is beating you on the head with it. You start screaming STOP! STOP!
Do you want that person to slow down or do you really want him to STOP?

Stop signs in Azteca Loop are now over $200.00.... Well, to tell you the truth, they are over $200.00 in all of Sumter Co. and maybe Florida too. I hope so.

You counted 13 tickets. Do you live on that street? If you do, I would think
that you would want the laws enforced.

mulligan - Not all streets are public. Villa streets belong to the District.

chacam - Cops can write tickets when they are asked to come in and do so.
I believe that they were asked (and paid) by the district to do just
that. And also to make us all a little safer.

And don't forget the SPEED LIMIT ON AZTECA LOOP IS 10 M.P.H.

BOMBERO ... thanks for the reminder of the 10MPH limit in that community. With the stop signs and speed bumps, I think I've been within that parameter. I would think that the officer will be assigned to other communities on other days, too. In fact, I have seen a patrol car on several occasions with the radar device on Enrique Drive in the Santiago/Santo Domingo communities.

Most times when the deputies are writing in a certain area, it is after repeated "yells" by the residents to enforce the laws. I'm sure they don't get a pleasure out of giving someone a ticket.

Default Stop means Stop

I took my driving test at age 17. Only did one thing wrong. On a closed course there is no traffic, so I just rolled through the STOP. Failed, had to wait a month for another appointment.
Now I teach motorcycle safety. I ride a motorcycle and understand the need to STOP at STOP signs.
I want everyone else on the road to STOP as well.

Default Good Response Posts Everyone

As has been stated, obey the law in car or cart, be it stop sign, red light, or speed. If you do, then why do you care how many tickets are written or how much the fine is....you aren't going to get a ticket or pay a fine. No brainer.

I am on Azteca at least once a week. I'm thrilled they're finally ticketing people. I've been bumped, yelled at and honked at because I actually come to a full stop at each and every stop sign. I have zero sympathy for those who received tickets. They knew the law, they chose to ignore it.
