Has anyone out there been or know someone who has gone on a FANTASTIC ALASKAN FISHING TRIP. Looking to book one but there are so many choices, would love to get first hand advice from anyone that has been. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

Halibut fishing from Homer was the best, but that was years ago. Salmon fishing on the Kenai was the primer place for the big King Salmon, again that was 25 years ago. I lived in Anchorage for 6 years and there was fishing pretty much everywhere. The issue was anything that you could drive a car to was always very crowed, we called it “combat fishing” literally shoulder to shoulder at a place called the Russian River. If I went back today I would go on a charter boat out of Homer for Halibut, but there are several smaller towns on the coast south of Anchorage that probably offer Halibut charters. River fishing in a boat with a guide may be the way to go on the Kenai and other places for salmon. There were several rivers both north and south of Anchorage. Hope my information helps a little but all my fishing experience is within a few hours of Anchorage, Alaska fishing is so much more than just the Anchorage area,

Don't go during the mosquito season. If you get out of your car to fill up gas for some reason 100s of mosquitos swarm directly toward you and start biting in the summer during the day even. What kind of fishing? Ocean or River or Salmon?
I've camped at kennecott copper mine which was very interesting. Near there toward the ocean are salmon rivers that are popular. |
