Default Garage Door Transmitter Frequency

Does anyone have information regarding changing the frequency of the garage door transmitters or receivers? My (incorrect) impression was that it's a "rolling code" that changes each time it's used. However, mine is activated by a neighbor's transmitter and has been for over a week. Suggestions would be appreciated.

The house is 14 months old and we've had it since new. Never a problem until last week when we started being surprised by finding our garage door open upon return when we know it was closed when we left. We've been especially careful about that considering the recent home invasions here. Finally determined it was a neighbor's unit that accidentally opened the door. Very strange, and obviously we want to correct it. Thanks for your help.

Your neighbors transmitter has been programmed to work with your receiver. Reset the receiver on the opener and then reprogram it with your transmitters. The instructions should be on the opener.

BTW, usually the frequency of the transmitters is in the 390 MHz range.

Had the same problem. Mine was working my neighbors and theirs would occasionally work mind. Reset the code but it continued to happen. ROMAC insisted this is impossible unless we tried to change the code at the same time (not). Had ROMAC come out and reprogram mine and it hasn't happened again. Service call $50.

If you have an MVP garage door opener, it uses a 9 digit code that can be reprogrammed.
See page 11-12 on this link.

Thank you for the prompt help. I'll give reprogramming a try and then go to ROMAC if that doesn't solve the problem. Will post the results when known. No need to make entry even more inviting for the bad guys.

Success! Rayschic's suggestion was right on. Everything is now operating on a different code, different for each door. The transmitter that was activating mine by accident no longer does it. I really appreciate the help. Might be a good idea to reprogram these things on a periodic basis as a preventative measure. It's an easy process after you get the first one done correctly.
The excellent help on this board is appreciated!
