It’s a math thing it’s 4 factorial

gmdds 01-11-2022 10:56 AM

However, if you take away all but the clean ones (4 of them) then 256 is correct (4x4x4x4…or 4 to the 4th power).

I have accepted your request, and with some effort I found that there have been 9* posts emphatically saying the answer is 24.
Probably another 6 posts need to be posted.

Note: Not included in the above count was the one indicating 24.......that came after your post!

Nope... You're repeating numbers in your scenario...

StephenE 01-11-2022 11:44 AM

5040 combinations without repeating a number

Getting back to the original concern, when we moved in (2013) there was a comment made about a "universal" code programmed into the MVP openers so the trades could get into the houses to work. In any case we deleted all codes and added our own. I have replaced one opener with a Chamberlin unit that uses a rolling code system and will shortly be replacing the other.

At least 24 more times...

Most keypads will lock up if you try too many times. Keypads are safe.

If there were only 24 everyone would be playing the 4 digit lottery.

Lets face it..no thief is going to mess around with the clean numbers on your keypad. They will simply go to your front door and pu**** in. Our doors are not the strongest and the locksets and hinges arent reinforced.
You dont have to be superman to knock doors open in the Villages

This is a little off the subject but helpful anyway. A few years ago I came home to find all the power out in the area. The only way into the house was a key we had hidden outside. Some of our neighbors couldn’t get in their homes because they didn’t have a key. I now keep a house key in all of our cars.
