wish that we had a golf car garage; our lot will not accomodate one, so we have to make do with a 2 car garage. that said, the key as far as adequate storage is.....you do not have to bring all that stuff from your former home. simplify and downsize. i am amazed how many people crowd so much "crap" into the garage and it is usually stuff that you will never need. have a huge yard sale before you move, and then give a whole lotta stuff away. and that's my story!

A 9 car garage and house is being built in the Premier area S of Pinellas and W of Buena Vista on the golf course.
Now that's something anywhere.

Default expanding iris

golf cart garage, YES - great for resale also. add at least 2 ft to garage for shelves ans stuff - think how you will use the space - 2 cars? 1 car and 2 carts are more likely maybe 1 o2 scooters or other 2 wheel items.

We built an Iris and love it. Stretched 4 ft in length, 2 ft front bedroom 4 ft in lanai plus straightened the back (like a Lantana) and made cascading sliding doors. It also gave us 2 ft in the living rm. we were surprised on how reasonable it was. In addition we did a Boston hip roof and we can nearly stand up in the attic over the garage. Some of these ideas came from this wonderful site!!!

Thumbs up Golf Cart Garage Addition

I have a Lantana with a golf cart garage. I needed more space so I blew out the back wall and extended my garage 27' down the side of the house. Now I have room for my two cars, two carts and my motorcycle. While I did the addition, I air conditioned the entire garage and put a walkway to the back and extended my patio. Everything fits now and I now have a "mancave" to smoke cigars and drink beer while working on my bike.-----One Happy Camper in TV!

Go in the main entrance S side of Pinellas. Go right 1st street then follow until the curve.
House is in the right on the golf course.

Can you explain what you meant by your comment that straightening the back gave you s ft. in the living room? Thanks.

We were concerned that the garage, as it stood, really would not accommodate 2 cars, golf car + some storage shelves along the side walls. Can anyone give us feedback on that? Can we get away with NOT pushing the garage 4 ft to the side and have enough space? Even if you dont have an iris, we would love some thoughts on garage and storage space so we can made some informed decisions prior to selecting our house, lot and the changes. We have never built a home before so we are very green at this! thank you so much.

can you explain this more to me? What 'elevation' is the Boston Hip Roof?
What are cascading sliding doors?
We were thinking of 2 ft bump in front (for bedroom and garage)
4' for Lanai
(not sure what you mean 'straightened the back'?)

You say it also gave you 2ft in the liv rm? how did that work ..?

I really appreciate the feedback by the way! I have not built before and want to be sure I am not missing anything

Thanks!

The distance you can stretch will ultimately be determined by your lot size (and money). We found that the builder will allow almost any stretch that your lot can hold.
