Had Red Rocks put around my home and now see many of those little geckos that I never had before with the pine straw. Makes me wish I had put mulch down. I guess they like the warmth of the rocks.

Not geckos, they're anoles. And they help keep the insect populations down.

I suspect you don’t have more anoles, but are just able to see them better against the rocks than you did against the pine straw. But I agree they are helpful keeping the insects down.

Call me crazy, but try as I may, I can not seem to get over my aversion to snakes, ants, cockroaches, mice, rats and whatever the hell y'all want to call those "cute" lizards. Since moving to Florida my greatest fear, however, continues to be alligators. Still find my eyes frantically darting, looking for signs of life whenever I am in my pool especially since, with my hip problems, I know I wouldn't be able to get out fast enough to outrun it. LOL (I think)

I adore those little anoles, the more the better! I enjoy watching them scamper about and I even make pets out of them letting them sit on me while I'm working in the yard. Once they sit on me they stay, they like the warmth and will spend all day on me if I let them...and I do.

I agree they probably could change color to the straw and was pre near invisible, I have green on the come down out of the palms occasionally and in few minutes he or she slowly turns color to match background.

BK there a lot of things to be afraid of, but anoles are not one of them? Unless of course you when and seen Japanese Godzilla or
Rodan movies as kid and was terrified?

Little anoles are you're friends the eat all the bugs/insects we all despise. You'll regret it if they disappear, all those bugs/insects will be trying to get in the house.

Ring neck snakes love pine straw and mulch. All sorts of insects also. The lizards are your friend, kill them off and you'll be seeing all sorts of in invited guess?

SO TRUE. If we don't see them we know a snake is lurking somewhere. I have to say that a couple of days ago I saw six of them sunning themselves on our driveway. (anoles/gecko's) which is a LOT. Maybe this is a time of hatching for the little guys.
