perhaps ask a neighbor or friend if they want to decorate their home with some beautiful plants?

Ask your home watch person to water them for you...I'm sure there will be no guarantees but they will probably do just fine. I tend to kill mine with kindness.

I'd think you'd probably leave a house key with someone while you're away for that length of time. Perhaps they'd be willing to water the plants for you. Or maybe a neighbor would be open to caring for them in their own home while you're gone.

Having someone care for plants, (like everyone has suggested) is best solution. BUT, if all neighbors went home also, you can put them in yard, and plant them OR just put them in area where you can put on sprinkler system, for 10-15 min, 3 days a week. Another solution, just have a "Plant Sale" before you leave!!! hehehe

Default Leaving the plants.................

That was a little part of snowbirding that I didn't like. I would plant annuals and watch them come to full bloom and watered them and removed spent blossoms and would have a pretty basket hanging by front entry...and then have to abandon them.

Also, the annuals planted in beds were subjected to the weed killer by the yard guys.

So...we would come back after the summer and find some things really grown way too much, and some things dead and some things straggle-y and some weeds...no matter what lawn service we had.

One of the reasons I like year 'round residency is I can tend my flowers and beds...

I am taking two plants of mine from NJ. I hope they can survive the trip. I wanted to give them away but everyone talked me in to taking them. One is a mixed plant and has grown so large. It is beautiful. Someone gave it to me when I was ill 4 yrs ago. We plan on putting them inside an ice cooler bag that we bought from Sams Club a couple of years ago. The bag is all insulated. Whenever we decide to go away we will ask one of our neighbors to babysit our plants. Heck they don't give you any trouble, just need love and water.

If they have names, you might as well take them on vacation with you!
