Default Watch the Grey Cup with Loonies & Toonies

Gator’s Dockside in Spanish Springs will be broadcasting the Grey Cup on Sunday evening, November 24, at 6pm. If you can remember, please wear your Loonies & Toonies name badge!

Gator's Dockside will be showing the Grey Cup game exclusively on a number of screens throughout the restaurant. They will try to locate all of us Canadians in their front room, but they will have other clientele watching that other type of four-down football as well. The Grey Cup Game overlaps a bit with the 4 pm and 8:30 pm NFL games. Seating will be on first come/first seated basis. Although it was a bit chaotic at first when we did this two years ago - we all did get to sit and watch the game. Many of us were still there at games end.

President Dave also double checked with Wallace Weylie - legal council for the Canadian Snowbird Association regarding the JOLT Act -which contains the provision for retired Canadians who either own or rent property in the United States to apply for a Retiree Visa which would allow us to stay in the United States up to 240 days in a calendar year. It has passed through the US Senate and is now in the US House of Representatives. CSA representatives will be in Washington this coming week, trying to lobby congress members to push it along, so it can go for presidential approval and become law in future. Fingers crossed!

We hope to see lots of Loonies on Nov. 24 at Gator’s Dockside. As it currently stands, it will be either the Toronto Argos or Hamilton Ti-Cats playing the Saskatchewan Roughriders or Calgary Stampeders.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will square off in the 101st Grey Cup game on Sunday in Regina. Saskatchewan is seeking its first CFL title since 2007, while Hamilton hopes to win the championship for the first time since 1999.
