Golf cart connectivity

They have a valid point and I would be wondering the same about the bridge. We are planning to move there in a few months and have wondered that same thing each time we come for a visit. Can't we ALL just play nice without being mean and judgmental?? And be a good Steward of what the town is supposedly known for "America's Friendliest Hometown"???

I totally agree with your observations. Many false promises were made to the people who bought south of CR44. I believe that they really over estimated the state's willingness to bridge the turnpike. Having a bridge to a village with no residents shows progress. For your information - there is a group from fenny that is gathering information from folks like us. It looks like a class action in the making.

I still am waiting for an explanation on what constitutes a promise...lot of people throw that around yet when you ask for them to show the contract where it exists I get blank stares. People believe what they want to believe, hear what they want to hear or are just naive. IMO

When they moved south of 44, they changed their successful plan, jumped several miles to the south and then started to fill in the gap going south to north. Seems that if they started with a village immediately south of 44, built one bridge to Brownwood and kept with their previous adjacent village policy, these current isolation issues could have been avoided.

Presumably there was some reason for the change in policy. That said, eventually it will all be resolved.

Go search, the reason for Fenny has been discussed and explained on here through several threads.

They’re in a business to make money. For goodness sakes get a grip.

I lived in the North side and now I live in the South side of The Villages and I will drive my golf cart anywhere I can, including across all 4 bridges when they are done.

Nope, not in The Villages.

We are not just a bunch of tired old Frogs waiting for the Grim Reaper. We are young (at heart) people with strong opinions who try to enjoy every day of this wonderful life we have. Expressing the opinions we have developed through years of living is what we do.

You make too much sense.

Right, we go everywhere on the golf cart no matter how far. It’s a beautiful ride no matter where the destination in TV.

Naive? I think naivety is something most folks can be accused of from time to time. Especially when they are shown something new, shiny and exciting. Salespeople everywhere rely on it and spin banter to the most positive picture and try to avoid any negatives that might derail a possible sale. Get the customer excited and create a sense of urgency (buy now before they are all gone.).
Don't get me wrong. I love my home here, but I clearly remember our sales rep using the exact same tactics on us. I also remember being told that our village was going to be the end of the building (buy now cause there will be no more). I live in Collier and I'll bet that if given lie detector tests all the sales reps knew that they were touting false information.
Of course the promises are not in the sales contracts any more than the answer "no ma'am, those pants don't make you look fat" are on the sales receipt from Kohl's. Still, incomplete and false information and implied promises and even flat out lies were probably told to make a sale. I don't blame people for feeling they were misled. And, if it can be shown they were they may have a case. I understand the law takes a dim view of taking advantage of seniors.
If a class action suit does happen, I will be watching, but not participating.

The bridge (not yet complete) is sitting on the North/East side of the turnpike. The pilings for the supports are being worked on presently. You say "but, it sounds like they haven't even started on your bridge?? That's sad" Have you actually driven into the area by the new Water Lily recreation center where you can actually see the bridge sitting out there across the turnpike? Sounds like you say...

That was a very good point, TVBOUND. Now that the homes down in Fenny, Marsh Bend and surrounding areas are sold, Putting up this bridge over 44 will help sell the newer areas.
I definitely want to do the top to bottom golf cart drive when everything is finished(whenever that will be!)(and who knows where that will be too!) lol
I understand your frustration OLYARCHICK, I would be ****ed also. I have property property between 466 and 466a and bought when they were building ,being told that there will be no more building after two years. That was 5 years ago!! I just recently (2 months ago) bought another home that I will live in when I retire. I would of definitely liked a brand new house, but decided to buy a preowned home close to 466, for that very reason. We once visited a community when we were looking where to retire and the homes were built before the club house. For some reason the community didnt have the funds and these people were living there with no club house for 5 years! Now that sucks when its a one clubhouse community. So because of that we decided to go pre owned.
Now as far as complaining about wants, when other people are suffering, I believe all our hearts are feeling for these people. And yes, there are so many things to be thankful for. But it's ok to be ****ed about something that was promised and not delivered. Buying a home is a huge investment.

This site used to have wealth of information, asking for help, getting info on good and not so good business. Sometimes just needed an option on a subject.

Never telling you that thread has been done, use search, on something from a year ago, instead of just giving a honest answer. Support when you were having a bad day, bad diagnosis, loss of someone, or just asking for prayers.

Sometimes the old TOTVs shows up, but in the last few years, not so much. Some have just left the site, and gone elsewhere. Sometimes it’s disheartening

However in 2017 things started to develop on Rt 466A and now I have a Lowe’s, gas station, grocery stores and many other places I can shop at and they are only a little over a mile from my house. As someone had already said you need to be patient and soon you will be able to drive your golf cart everywhere and have the services you need. Until then relax and have a cocktail and enjoy what you have. Life is short so don’t spend it worrying about things you can’t control.

Of course all those nice things on 466A require a care even if your house backs up to them.

I agree with much of what has been said. If only I could get my hands on a current map of what is actually built down south. It's often very hard to follow even the wonderful drone footage when you don't know where Beamont, Bradford and ChitChat are. Are the rust colored bridges only for golf carts? If you needed to drive a car to Brownwood or Sumter from Linden or Marsh Bend would your only choices be to drive over the turnpike on Warm Springs to get to Morse, or go far west get on Rt 301?

We love our house and the neighborhood with it's parks but we really feel like second class citizens. Our agent told us that the golf cart bridge over the highway and our shopping center would be finished in the fall of 2019. Neither were finished and now they are putting the bridge over 44 to Chitty Chatty tonight. That Village was started six months after ours was completed. What gives? Have they forgotten about Marsh Bend and Fenny?

too bad you have not realized -- THE FAMILY -- have a reputation of telling tales to sell houses and then going on without any course or conscience -- we have all been lied to in pursuit of their grand fortune -- and their loyalty is only to the benjamins
