There are bad drivers everywhere, be they in carts or cars. Just yesterday I was driving my cart in the cart lane on Southern Trace when a car (not cart) zoomed up behind me IN THE CART LANE. Coward that I am, I turned into a side street and let the car go by. Good news is, it's much easier driving here -car or cart - than in South Florida.

I agree that is so sad that the negatives are so headlined...I suppose it makes some feel better for some reason. If you just treat the golf carts as a car and remain viligant as you would in a car, you will be fine....and that vigilance pertains also to alcohol consumption which is so much involved. |

I didn't have to "brake hard". I did 'slow down" and a collision was avoided by my actions. If you had been there you would understand. Why can't you accept my post without inserting your own words then chastising me and putting me in a negative position? (I think I know the answer but it would be interesting to hear your answer.) |

Most golf carts that have speedometers installed will read in tenths of a MPH. So when the poster stated that he was going 19.6 that is what showed on his speedometer. My cart maxes out at 22.5 and I still get passed out by the hot rod carts.

[QUOTE=downeaster;880843]Buggyone, where did I say I "had to brake hard" and "kept going at max speed until the last seconds"?
I didn't have to "brake hard". I did 'slow down" and a collision was avoided by my actions. If you had been there you would understand." In your post, you stated you were driving maxed out at 19.6 mph and another cart passed you going slightly faster. You said that it was on a curve and another cart was coming and the driver cut in front of you. It sounded to me as though you did not slow down immediately upon seeing the other driver start to pass you. If that is not how it occured, my apology. |

I still take my leisurely rides listening to my tunes ignoring those who have improperly timed their arrival time to their destination. Their problem !
