I have a block and stucco Carmelia, almost the same size as a Lantana. My router is in the den at the very front of the home. My lanai has a pool so is about 1400 sq feet. I can get wifi anywhere on the lanai.

Default Router in Lantana

I put my router in main living room on the top of the TV. I used a splitter. No problems with reception throughout the house and lanai.

We live in a block and stucco lantana. Our router is in the front room, our office. Hubby and I both have regular computers and wireless laptops. The laptops work all over the place....in the house and in the lanai.

My router is in the front den of my Begonia. I sit on the lanai at times and all is good. I also sit in my living room and can see 3 other networks. I know 1 is in the house next door and that is a block as is mine. So that would be through 2 block walls.

Have a block and stucco Lantana. The router is in the nook across from the laundry area. It reaches the front bedroom where the second computer is. Just two bars but it works.

The g or n refers to the IEEE standard better known as 802.11g or 802.11n. The 802.11n provides a better throughput (faster data transfer) than the 802.11g. The computer your are using (either desktop of lap top) must be able to handle the 802.11n in order for you to take advantage of the speed increase. 802.11n is backward compatible to 802.11g so if you have an n router / switch you can use it with a g computer or lap top.

If you have a lap top or desktop that supports 802.11n or may be upgrading in the future but need the wifi now I would go with something like the D-Link DIR-655. I have the router / switch on my home network and have no problems with it.

GN, you should find the model number and then check the manufacturer's web site for the specs.
