The more important question here s: why didn’t you pull off the road to let someone pass you? 19mph is not fast, it’s actually pretty slow. Almost every turn on the golf cart paths can be driven faster than 20mph. IMO, it’s the slower golf carts that pose the problem. Why is it safer to travel 200mph on the autobahn than it is to drive 70 mph here in the states? 1 of the main reasons is that slower traffic has to move over to the right lanes or get a ticket or have their license revoked. Same laws should apply here which they are but only on 3 lane hwys like i75 and i95. This should be applied to any 2 lane road here in the villages too.

If you don’t slow down at turns and curves, you run the risk of hitting a pedestrian or other vehicle. The speed limit is the fastest you should be going, not how fast you are required to go. It sounds like you are one of the drivers who don’t share the multimodal path responsibly.

BAN ELECTRIC CARTS! They are the ones that can be tweaked to “go fast”, above 25mph.
Any Yami gasser, even with high speed gears, will top out about 24/25mph, if tweaked.
Plenty of speed to pass a 19 mph cart. Happens to me all the time. And I’m ok with that.

Agree, they are going faster than the cars on Fenney Way sometimes. Dangerous. Wont get better until they ticket.

Then there are the people who fall out of a cart doing 14 mph, hit their head, and unfortunately die. I’m thinking we all need to wear leather suits and full face helmets!

You are going slow and complain those not going slow pass you due to you going slower than them.

Slow drivers are passed by those not going slow all the time. This is called normal and expected.

Make sure not to try to block them, that is how accidents are caused.

The highest speed limit in the USA is 85 MPH on a 40-mile stretch of Texas State Highway 130.

Why is it legal to sell automobiles that can travel at more than double the maximum speed limit?

Thats fast on a Golf Cart path.

To me, 19mph is not too slow in a cart since the cart is only supposed to be capable of 20mph max. Sure, I would be frustrated that I couldn't just hold my foot to the floor but that's the way it is on a shared path.

A parking lot is a shared resource, so it's OK to park sideways and take up three spots?
The bleachers at Brownwood are a shared resource, so it's OK to lie down on them?
On Florida highways posted over 60, it's actually a law that a vehicle in the left lane MUST move over for faster traffic---EVEN IF that traffic is "speeding"---simply because no driver is there to enforce the law or to force their speed on others. Too bad that isn't the law on every road.

You see, sharing is a two-way street (no pun intended :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:)

Oh, how true is that!!!!

There would need to be a dozen or so different max speed cars in the US...which then means a 70mph limited car from PA cannot go the speed limit in Texas

This will last until all those doing 35 (?) destroy themselves or take over. It's a Darwin thing.

Traveling 19.4mph and holding up someone that wants to go 20.1mph is not quite the same as driving on the wrong side of the MMP or stopping across the MMP to send a text message. And as I mentioned in another reply, there aren't a lot of multi-lane MMPs where slower traffic can move out of the leftmost lane.

As another post suggested, my “rules” are as follows:

(1) When being passed, I let off the gas completely to make it faster and safer for all parties. All too often, when I am passing someone, they speed up. That’s nothing short of a mental disorder.

(2) When on a street being followed by a car, I pull to the right the first chance I get and wave them around. I continue to be fascinated at the lack of thank-you waves I get for doing this.

The rest of the time, I’m driving about 75 mph. I mean, if we’re going to exaggerate on these posts, let’s get serious. lol!!

Most likely the governors are still there, just adjusted. Easier to adjust than remove.

A friend of mine had her cart tipped over when a passer cut too close to her rear end and will be in rehab for months how can we say that that’s an OK thing
A golf cart does not flip over from someone passing closely. The cart had to be hit or she had to swerve suddenly or such. She may have overreacted due to fear, but the cart that did not hit her did not flip her.

People try to drag race me when I pass as well ..yeah, a true mental disorder, this need to control the speed of others.

They probably don't wave due to keeping both hands in the wheel when passing. At least Indo that when passing a cart, bike, etc.

Only 75? Slow pokes like you cause accidents!!?

Besides being just plain stupid and dangerous, it's illegal

Florida statute 316.083:

5) Except when overtaking and passing on the right is permitted, the driver of an overtaken vehicle must give way to the right in favor of the overtaking vehicle, on audible signal or upon the visible blinking of the headlamps of the overtaking vehicle if such overtaking is being attempted at nighttime, and must not increase the speed of his or her vehicle until completely passed by the overtaking vehicle.

Yet, on both diamond lanes and on highways, this happens all the time---like I said in a previous post---some people just don't like to get passed, no matter how slow they are.
