Exactly. The faster carts/cars/motorcycles will simply pass you and be gone--no problem at all. But the snails, especially those in the left lane, are a problem that has to be dealt with by everyone and unfortunately encourages less than safe maneuvers by many to get past them---both insurance company and law enforcement studies show that slow drivers cause more accidents than so-called speeders---they might not be involved in them, but they cause them.

Totally agree. It is unnerving on highways to pass someone in the left lane going backwards. Yikes!

I agree this claim is a gross exaggeration to make a point.

I have seen a golf cart going over 40 MPH. It passed me very quickly in Belvedere a few years ago . I was in my golf cart that has a governor and will not let me go over 19.9 MPH. I had thought that people would have trouble getting insurance for their golf cart if they did not have the governor on. Something that came up the last time I got our golf cart serviced at Gordon's Garage . Contact Gordon's Garage for Service - The Villages Golf Cars : The Villages Golf Cars

Gotta restock the popcorn after reading this thread, lol.

There is a vehicle I really miss seeing around this area if the Villages. It was a motorcycle with a sidecar that had a small pooch with goggles on his or her head. The dog looked to be enjoying itself. He was not going very fast though.

Just pay attention to YOUR driving...as you do in your car...and move on....just as you do in your car. This is a dead subject.

The law says you cannot do that. Must move to the right when ANY vehicle is traveling faster than you.
Driving like that triggers road rage. Unnecessarily delays traffic. It is not your role as a driver to pretend to be a cop and hold up other traffic. No matter if you think they are speeding or not. Perhaps your speedometer is wrong? Perhaps there is an undercover cop needing to get past. You don't know.
So move over.

Do that on a MMP in a golf cart----there's no law against it, although you will get a few one-fingered salutes.
Do that on a highway, and...... Florida statute 316.081:

(3) On a road, street, or highway having two or more lanes allowing movement in the same direction, a driver may not continue to operate a motor vehicle in the furthermost left-hand lane if the driver knows or reasonably should know that he or she is being overtaken in that lane from the rear by a motor vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed. This subsection does not apply to drivers operating a vehicle that is overtaking another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, or is preparing for a left turn at an intersection.

I had a guy start to pass me on a curve then finished passing me at a stop sign pulling into the oncoming lane to pass. He then zoomed away. Don’t know how fast he was going but I have been passed by other carts that were probably going 25 and this guy was going way faster than that.

19 mph is slow by TV standards. Most carts can go 22 mph. They can be adjusted to go 24mph. At 19 mph I’m surpirsed you don’t get passed more often; like every time you use your cart.

Just what we need in TV. Children driving adult toys, with the reflexes and observation skills of a senior citizen.

When I was 12 years old I drove a Go-Cart 60mph (which felt like 100 :-)
On that day I swore to my creator that I would own one someday.
Well, life got in the way. Until now.
What's your story?

I a completing a rebuild of my cart. I have installed a 350HP Hemi engine. If my calculations are correct this thing should easily do 240mph. I will be passing everybody and after arriving at my destination I will do burnouts and victory donuts like a NASCAR winner while waving a checkered flag. I wait patiently for The Villages to build the oval track for Sunday fun.
