Default Golf cart hits Bicyclist!!!!

Today, March 21st in the C Section under Law Enforcement Briefs I saw yet another very SERIOUS accident. Golf cart hits cyclist, the cyclist is thrown and then BACKS UP to yet run over him AGAIN?????? Bystanders said that they helped get the golf cart off the cyclist's CHEST and the poor cyclist is in SERIOUS condition. Absolutely unreal. This golf cart guy will be sued up the ying yang and I hope the cyclist makes it. Horrible..just horrible.

Was this the one last night as Buena Vista or Morse and 466A?
Sounds awful. I hope the people involved recover. The driver in the golf cart must have reacted hysterically.

Gracie...the one you're asking about had to do with a vehicle and a mo-ped, according to today's paper. Not sure of the details as they weren't included.

The one having to do with the golf-cart and bicycle is just plain sad and more than awful with the cart-driver backing up over the poor guy!

There have been three serious accidents in the last 24 hours all reported in the Daily Sun and all according to the Daily Sun with people having critical injuries that were air lifted to both Orlando and to Shands.

Wow. This is happening much too often. I pray the injured have full recoveries.

I think all should start budgeting for an increase in golf cart insurance.

Don't think it is really that,, The SCSO office is not allowed to enforce anything on these paths. They say it is private property. Heck everyone drive crazy, no one will do anything about it.

Something needs to be done. SCSO said they can not ticket on the paths, unless the carts are on the road. No wonder you have all the accidents, no one can police the carts.

We passed by there going south on Buena Vista right after it happened so don't really know anything. That being said, it could possibly have been the fault of the bicyclist in the beginning. Could be the cart driver didn't realize that he had fallen behind him when he backed over him. I just hope everyone is ok in time.

I know it's redundant, but it is everyone's responsibility to be extra careful....more especially in the spring when everyone sometimes gets a bad case of "cabin fever" during inclimate (sp?) weather.

Our good friends were on the scene and helped lift the cart off the cyclist.the decription of the scene was off the wall nasty. Another incidence of not being alert when driving....

Hopefully in a few weeks this will all go away...... Had enough of the " only a couple more weeks left so they're in a hurry to do everything and damn don't get in my way" people

Default It won't go away

I read many posts where everything is blamed on renters. As a responsible renter it drives me crazy. The golf cart guy was going to fast, failed to negotiate a curve, wearing headphones, not allowed to operate a motor vehicle due to a brain injury, from Oxford, but as you infer , also a renter.

the cart driver was not a snowbird or flake he is a resident of oxford, which adjoins The Villages. He is home!
