Default Honors for great songwriters

The JFK Library in Boston recently began a new honor that recognizes music lyrics as literature. The first 2 honorees were Chuck Berry and Leonard Cohen. I've attached the link below to a news article from THe Boston Globe. While the two are certainly entirely different in their styles and subject matter, they are both incredible writers and ground breakers in their genres. An interesting note is that in his acceptance speech, Mr. Cohen referenced the accomplishments of Mr. Berry and said (paraphrasing slightly) "If Beethoven hadn't rolled over, there wouldn't have been room for the rest of us." How true, how true!
