[Quixote]

We were driving in our golf cart on Belvedere Blvd toward the Bonnybrook Gate on our way to Lake Sumter Landing. Suddenly the golf cart in front of us swerved out of the golf cart lane—intending to then cross both lanes of car/truck traffic—to head northbound on the golf cart trail (say, toward Laurel Manor).

If the driver of the red Prius (thank you, whoever you are...) hadn't had such good reflexes and been very aware of her or his surroundings and jammed on the brakes, the people in that golf cart would surely have been badly hurt or worse.... The car screeched to a stop only inches from the golf cart, which kept on going as though oblivious.

And to think that the golf cart driver could easily have turned right onto the golf cart trail (the same way we were going) and in a very short distance turned left through the tunnel under Belvedere Blvd.

C'mon, neighbors! Besides the obvious—that cars and trucks are bigger than golf carts—the latter are supposed to yield to vehicular traffic. Be conscious and careful; we don't need more preventable tragedies!!!
