i JUST ORDERED A NEW EZGO RXV FROM THE FACTORY SHOWROOM TO BE DELIVERED ON OCT 1ST...48VOLT ELECTRIC...THEY WANT $350 for larger tires...205/65/10 ...the standard tire is 205/50/10...is it worth the difference?
they use the same 10" wheels as the standard, and claim that the 65's are that much more costly...has anyone had experience in this area....thanks dou11

I recommend you find out the exact tire name and size and you can go on-line (Google: golf cart tires)to price the tire by itself asssuming the wheels will be the same . A $350 price difference seems mightly high if you are comparing apples to apples meaning the same tire but different size. You need additional information!

If you play golf, make sure that your tires are on THE VILLAGES AUTHORIZED TIRE LIST FOR CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSES ...

Section Width
Following the letter(s) that identify the type of vehicle and/or type of service for which the tire was designed, the three-digit numeric portion identifies the tire's "Section Width" (cross section) in millimeters. P225/50R16 91S The 225 indicates this tire is 225 millimeters across from the widest point of its outer sidewall to the widest point of its inner sidewall when mounted and measured on a specified width wheel. This measurement is also referred to as the tire's section width. Because many people think of measurements in inches, the 225mm can be converted to inches by dividing the section width in millimeters by 25.4 (the number of millimeters per inch). 225mm / 25.4 = 8.86"Sidewall Aspect Ratio Typically following the three digits identifying the tire's Section Width in millimeters is a two-digit number that identifies the tire's profile or aspect ratio. P225/50R16 91S The 50 indicates that this tire size's sidewall height (from rim to tread) is 50% of its section width. The measurement is the tire's section height, and also referred to as the tire's series, profile or aspect ratio. The higher the number, the taller the sidewall; the lower the number, the lower the sidewall. We know that this tire size's section width is 225mm and that its section height is 50% of 225mm. By converting the 225mm to inches (225 / 25.4 = 8.86") and multiplying it by 50% (.50) we confirm that this tire size results in a tire section height of 4.43". If this tire were a P225/70R16 size, our calculation would confirm that the size would result in a section height of 6.20", approximately a 1.8-inch taller sidewall Tire and Wheel Diameter P225/50R16 91S The 16 indicates the tire and wheel diameter designed to be matched together. Tires that have a rim diameter expressed in inches (P225/50R16, as well as 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 26 and 28) are called "inch rim" sizes, are the most common type of tire size and are used on most cars, minivans, vans, sport utility vehicles and light duty light trucks The bottom line of all this nonsense is that the "65" tires will have a taller sidewall resulting in a larger circumference, giving you approx 3 miles per hour more speed with little loss of torque. They probably are mounted on prettier wheels that come standard with a cart Aren't ya glad you asked?? ;D Handie :joke:

We just got back from the EZGO place and plan to order the RXV electric cart next week.
After going thru all the options with the salesgirl, we decided not to go with the bigger tires. She was very informative about the things we wanted, and actually talked us out of a couple of things we thought we wanted that she didn't think would be worth the $ for us (including bigger tires) We decided to spend the extra $ on upgraded seats, and some small options. We LOVED the comfort, quietness and zip of the cart. The only problem is, this will be MY cart, and I'm afraid my husband is gonna like it better than his gas Club Car, as it has so much more zip, so I expect him to try a switcheroo with me,,, NO WAY!!! He picked his already...

He'll probably want my new EZGO because it has more zip, than his Club Car has. His is an '07 Precedent (or whatever they are called), and it IS slow!

I have an E-Z-GO with premium tires and wheels and the upcharge was about that amount, as I recall. If you check, I'd guess you're getting premium wheels as well as the tires for the $350. Tires themselves (although golf cart tires are always delivered on plain, white steel wheels) are a lot cheaper than that.
The cart won't run any better with the premium tires and wheels. It'll look sharper, of course. But it won't make the cart run any differently--or faster--than with the standard sized tires and wheels. (The custom wheels are a smaller diameter calling for the higher sidewall tires, making the overall diameter of the premium package just about the same as the standards.) You should inquire about golf course compatibility, but I'd bet that they're OK. All the cart dealers know what tires are approved and which ones aren't and simply don't sell the tires that can't be used on the golf courses. The price I quoted was from Town & Country E-Z-GO in Spanish Plaines shopping center. If the quote you're getting is from the E-Z-GO Factory Store, I'd be very suspicious. Some have reported here that the factory store is not the most "user friendly" merchant around. I know for a fact that as recently as a couple months ago the prices at Town & Country E-Z-GO were actually a little cheaper than at the factory store. By the way, be sure to test drive the new E-Z-GO with the AC motor--I can't remember the model designation. It's unbelievable! It'll go 20 mph UP hills as well as down. I test drove it over the golf cart bridge a few times and I couldn't believe it. A test drive will make your mind up in a hurry.

Thanx Kahuna,
We'll check out the EZGO store in SS today as we did go to the factory store. We got a sheet with all the option prices, and the 10" tires and wheels were $385. Which we feel are not a necessity for us. The one thing I would love but wouldn't spend the $ for is the CD player, $575. WOW! I'll just get a nice, small radio/cd player and velcro it to the dash. But I have to say, we were very happy with the salesgirl who helped us. She spent lots of time with us and was very honest in suggesting some options we would NOT need. The model designation is RXV that you are talking about and IS unbelievable. That's why I want it....

Went to the SS EZGO store today and some of the prices for options were cheaper, some not.
I personally liked the factory store sales clerk best and felt she was more involved with what I wanted and so for the $100 or so difference, plan to go back to the factory store next week for my order. For me, with that close of a price, I want to deal with the person who makes me feel the most comfortable. Tho the SS sales guy was very nice too. Maybe it was only because I went to the factory store first... :dontknow: Either way,,, Love the cart!!! :hot:
