I have been following this water situation and it is confusing. On one site I read the water continues to be drinkable and then another boil water alert.

This is word-for-word of an email I received from Sumter County. I received this message as a text and as an email. I was asked to confirm I received the information. So... my guess is that at first they didn't think there was any reason to implement a boil notice. It appears something made them change their mind.

I received email from districtgov.org with same info as Northwoods provides above. It states the notice is for Districts 9&10& Brownwood. ( NOT "everything South of 466A) I tried calling the number given but got only a request to "leave a message". Time the message was sent was 5:36 pm.

If you have a whole house water filter, is it safe to use the water?

Good question, I wondered if reverse osmosis filter or the one in the fridge would allow you to drink.

There has been rather poor communication about this issue. The only way I knew was that a neighbor sent out an email about the water problem. Looking for a possible update this morning, I turned on WVLG at 6:00 when they begin daily programming. I got a lot of chat about sports and this day in history, but after wasting half an hour, there was no mention about the boil water order. Next, I tried the number given in an earlier post and found that the offices are closed all weekend but I could be sent to Community Watch. There, I got a very nice woman who didn't even know which districts were involved. She said a sign would be posted at the end of our street and a flier would be on our door when the order was lifted. This was the same way we were notified. What???? Makes one wonder how serious this whole issue is.
