Pulled down the a/c return louver
We live in designer, the Admiral decided to do some enhanced cleaning. Upon her direction, I removed the a/c return louver
The accumulation above the louver was really bad--cleaned what we could get at Now the ? I could see lots of dust on the flex a/c lines--don't think its safe to clean them It would be a professional ,has anyone done this in TV safely |

Most of the newer houses have a return grille in every room. Cleaning them is a good idea. But, I would not clean the flexible ducts and would not hire anyone to do it. First of all, they won't be able to get enough of the dust out to make a difference in your air quality. And, there is a good possibility that they will puncture a duct, which will cause conditioned air to discharge into your attic.

I tried to clean ours in previous home could only reach few feet down the ducts. Using flexible vacuum cleaner. Gave up and called professionals.
Had my ducts clean in our previous home before we sold it. They had big suction truck and used rubber ball on rope ( our something similar?) turned the machine on and let the ball bounce around in the duct releasing it down the duct knocking most the dust loose. Done it from both ends. Course that was in older house and state. IMO this area less weather intrusion than other states. IMO if you’re home over 10 or 15 years old may be helpful? I notice when people get A/C heat units replaced the contractor don’t do no duct cleaning, just throw new unit in. |

The smaller louvers in the 3 bedrooms, were reasonably clean, compared to the big return--will not hire any company to clean the ducts
