It is placed on the mirror housing in a small container

I never open my car window I simply drive up close to the card reader and hold my card up on the inside of the window and it reads it all the time

Yes, we had one installed. It is great! You need to practice a bit with easing up to the sensor but once you get that mastered, you're golden! Cost us $35 and he did multiple cars that day. Very pleased with the service and product.

It's simply taped with duct tape inside the side mirror. That's how the "original Ed" did mine. Black duct tape. Comes out with relative ease

A month or so ago I had to take one my cars in to the dealer to have the driver side window motor replaced. The car is not very old and I asked the technician how long do they generally last. His response surprised me. He said "Not very long in the Villages." I was quite shocked at that, and he went on to say "You guys do so much opening and closing this window that we do a lot of these replacements, we have to keep extra stock in the parts dept."

Well, that set me thinking and some while later a neighbor told me about a small company here in The V that had been installing "Villages Gate Passes" in the mirror of your car. This chip, which is programmed to match your white gate card, allows you to pull up to the gate, stop for 2 seconds and the gate goes up. It's simply brilliant!

Since this appeared too good to be true I called the company, 'Tri Line Services', and spoke to a gentleman named Ed who explained how it works, I asked a great many questions resulting in the information that you keep your white card, and yes The Villages knows about his service. His company is Licensed to do business in Florida and is also insured and has been installing chips since he developed the gadget 2 years ago. He said they have a 100% money back warranty for the product performance.

That seemed on the 'up and up' to me and so I made an appointment to have the gadget installed in one of my cars. A gentleman came, he was on time and courteous. He handed me the company business card and said he was here to install my gate pass. He installed the chip and had me go test it at the closest gate, it worked perfectly. It was just so slick to be able to drive up close to the reader and have the gate open like magic!

Of course when I came back I asked if he had time to do our other car, and do they work on golf carts? The answer to both Q's was "Yes, certainly Ma'am, I would be happy to." Now I have 3 vehicles equipped with 'magic chips' - that's what I call them - and am absolutely ecstatic, never wind down the window in the rain or let the a/c out in the heat, and my new window motor should last a lot longer. That's what you call a win win.

If you are interested call ED at Tri Line Services and he will tell you all about it.

Enjoy!

If you want duplicates with programmed info:
CloneMyKey - The Easiest Way To Copy Key Fobs & Cards

Little known fact: road gates are NOT tied to a computer.
Any BLANK (unprogrammed card) HID proximity II will work.
If you have an Ocala Sportsmens Club card it will also work.
Don't believe me? Order these:
2x HID ProxCard II Clamshell Proximity Access Card | eBay
HID 1326NSSNV ProxCard II Proximity Access Card, Non-Programmed Lot#2206 | eBay

Note these blank cards WILL NOT work at gates actually tied to a computer such as Paradise gate, RV storage gates, Hickory Head Hammock gate, any gate without a red button.

It is INSIDE the mirror. Totally invisible and even IF someone stole it what can they do with it??? Drive through a gate that doesn't need a card anyway?

Except you have to mail "CloneyMyKey" your card for them to duplicate them. Just sending them the numbers (if you can read them) won't work. I tried that already with them a long time ago plus this thread is about NOT having a card in your hand to have to deal with. You can't bury those cards in your sideview mirror and if you open them up the antenna is too big to use the "insides." Been there, done that.

Interesting factoid though I have a couple unprogrammed cards and will try that trick. Not sure if those specific eBay cards will work (have you tried them) because there are multiple types of HID cards and most are not compatible (not readable) with this ancient system.

You need a HID prox ll card.
Yes I bought a box, they work fine.
Yes I've sent a card in for duplication worked fine.
Order the "rubber watch" cut bands off, tape inside mirror.
A "key Fob" would also fit in the mirror.

I just get close to each gate opener and use my key card through the window without rolling it down, etc. It works every time and no need to waste more money on this stuff.

Do you like beer? Or wine? I don't. It's a waste of money. One persons "waste of money" is another persons "fun." If that's the case why would you even "waste your time" participating in this thread ?

Tried the key fobs and found them too thick and way too weak for many applications. I'm pretty sure I tried (there were so many) the HID2 unsuccessfully but don't remember. Solved the problem with a custom made sticker backed tag w/custom wound antenna. Antenna coil has extra winds which made them a bit more sensitive and less selective to where they were placed. Also VERY thin.
