Looks like Evolution carts should be aware when traveling North of 44. I wonder how many have hit the top in the lower tunnels. The dealer on 301 offered to put smaller tires on the cart and lower the roof by 2”. Anybody had that done?

Had the rear roof supports on my Evolution Ranger 4 Forward lowered 2” and fit through every tunnel. Definitely need to avoid cutting corners on tunnels up north though.

Signage, "low tunnel" might help people.

Not sure why people want lifted carts.......compensating for something??

Yes. I have the Evolution D5 Ranger. I currently have 12" wheels with 215/40r12 tires. I have also lowered the rear of my cart by 2 1/4". The two combined lower my cart roof by a bit over 4.5" - it's now about the same as a Yamaha.

I live in the North end and have to go through the Saddlebrook tunnel regularly. I have zero issues now and don't even come close to scraping. I originally only had the smaller wheels, and it was VERY close at Saddlebrook. I could go south through the tunnel, but when coming back, there is no way to make that sharp turn and not hit the edge of the tunnel. I then lowered the rear, and that solved the problem.

Probably the same reason people buy SUV's, easy entry.

I thought it was interesting that (EDIT: Star EV, not Evolution carts) makes custom carts for The Villages Golf Cars they don't supply anywhere else in the country.

Also, whenever I get a new pickup truck, I always measure the highest point (usually the antenna but not always). I keep that on a piece of paper in both Feet/Inches and in just inches. Said paper is above my visor. Anytime I get to a questionable tunnel or underpass (or drive-through window) a quick glance tells me whether I'm good or not. Wouldn't be a bad idea to know the max height of your cart and keep that on hand or memorized. Of course, it would be VERY helpful if the tunnels minimum height (Center and top sides) were labeled.

I worked in downtown Atlanta for years and daily parked in underground or regular parking decks. I was driving mostly standard height 4x4 pickups at the time and knew to the inch how tall they were and how low the various overhangs, pipes, etc. were. In more than one spot I had to almost stop the truck and idle under sections for fear of the truck bouncing and ripping the roof off! I got very proficient at putting those trucks into spots I wouldn't think of trying today.

The Villages Golf Cars hasn't sold Evolution for several years. They dropped their dealership status and left customers high and dry with no warranty repair or parts.

They also never had a custom cart built by Evolution. They only ever had the Classic, which had no issues with tunnels, and installed rain enclosures on them here in The Villages.

Most of the new lithium carts are not lifted - they just have a very tall roof. No idea why, but this is true for Evolution, Star, EZ-GO, etc.

The Evolution D5 Ranger is not a lifted cart, it's standard height from the ground. They do offer a lifted cart (Maverick), but it's designed for use in the woods, campground, and off-road where you may need the clearance. The tires on the Maverick are also not allowed on our golf courses - they are off road tires.

All I know is what The Villages Golf Cars stated in the recently released video linked in Post #1.

I have an Evolution Classic 4 stock and have travelled from Fenney to the Polo grounds with no height issues.

I think saddlebrook tunnels one of low ones, which you didn’t have to go through coming south unless you when round a bout way (from southern trace)?

We had to put a modest 2” lift kit on my wife’s 2015 Club Car Precedent so the 10” tires won’t rub in the wheel wells when turning or hitting a bump. I agree that “low tunnel” signage would be helpful for some folks. The cart looks pretty sharp with the modification, even though that wasn’t our intention. She often gets compliments on her ride.
