Smile Concert Band Membership?

I will be moving to The Villages in January, and am interested in playing in the Villages Concert Band. I am retiring in November from a 34 year career of being a Band Director and moving South in January!! I can't wait!
Can anyone tell me how I can find out more about joining the band?? The concert band at The Villages is one of the main reason I wanted to move there!

I am also retiring to The Villages after 36.5 years of teaching band in Mishawaka, IN. My wife and I will be arriving in The Village of Tamarind Grove next week, and I plan to contact the band director about attending some rehearsals and possibly joining the band. They have a website at vlgs-bands.home.comcast.net. Looks like there are a lot of options available. Do you have a house yet? If so, what village are you in? I am a woodwind player - mainly sax and clarinet with some flute and bassoon. What do you play?

I'm a member of the Villages Concert Band and play euphonium. My recommendation is to contact Jean Butler, the director. When you get here you can attend a rehearsal at the Mulberry Rec. Center on Tuesday nites at 7PM to see whether you would fit in. I have found that retired music directors (seems to me) are certainly welcomed in the Concert Band. However there are two other concert bands here. These are affiliated with the New Horizons group. We probably have over 240 concert band musicians here. As an aside I also play in a small German band here and we could probably use a few more clarinet players.

Hi! Sorry I didn't see this until now! We bought one of the Model Homes in Gilchrist! I can't wait. I retire in November. I have been in touch with the band director, and am all set to jump right in! I am also a woodwind (clarinet) player!
