In the police blotter....

The police were called to a residence in The Villages because of shots fired from the next door neighbor's home. Apparently the shot entered the neighbors garage and went through the interior wall and lodged in the interior ceiling.

The man who lived next door, a 35 year old, was arrested for a number of things including having drug stuff and having a gun without something you need when you have a gun and being a convicted person. It also said he wasn't shooting at anyone. He was trying "to clear the firearm". No bond was set.

It gave his name but not the address.

I hope I got this right. Did anyone else read it? I wonder where it was.

Just to clarify a little, in Florida you don't need anything to have a gun in your own home - no permit, registration, etc. That being said, this 'gentleman' was a convicted felon. In Florida, a convicted felon IS NOT allowed to have a firearm of any kind. Thus he was arrested for having a gun in his possession in the home. Had he not been a convicted felon, there would have been no 'gun possession' offense other than stupidity - and I don't think that one is a chargeable offense, but maybe it should be.
