Default Village History

Been thinking of relocating to the Villages. I am wondering if there is some source which would give the age for each of the individual villages. Would like to be able to look at housing ads and get a general idea of home age if not listed. Thanks.

If nobody turns up a document/list of what you're looking for, you can try (for Sumter County) the Property Appraiser's web site:

http://www.sumterpa.com/GIS/Search_F.asp

Plug in the street address for a particular property and the available data will tell you when it was first sold.

If you are just looking for general info, in general TV started on the east side of US Highway 441/27 (Orange Blossom area). It expanded across Highway 441 westward (Spanish Springs area) and continued expanding west but also a little north into Marion County and south into Lake County. That expansion phase pretty much ended at CR 466. The next expansion phase, south and west mostly, started at CR 466 to Lake Sumter Landing and then on to CR 466-A. The current (and probably final) expansion phase starts at CR 466-A and goes south and west to Route 44. There is a lot of construction along CR 466-A on the south/west side now but as you move towards Route 44 you see very little construction other than the main roads seem to be in place and lots of stakes in the ground. There are 'spot' exceptions all around. A brand new area on CR 466 between Morse and Buena Vista looks like it is just opening and along CR 466 south of Morse and on the west side on 466, construction in one area has just started. Around Lake Sumter Landing a large cottage area opened within the past year or so - it was vacant land for quite a while after LSL was up and running.

Here's a link to an older thread which will help answer your question:
