probably because the infrastructure development is cheaper to do in the area now being built; probably so that advertising can be spent in a concentrated area of new homes/subscribers rather than trying to convert residents who already have one service or another; probably because ccenturylink already offers basic services on the historic side and it it not an economic priority right now?

all of the above?
none of the above?

When I looked at Prism last summer, on the premium channels for example HBO and Cinemax you only got 2 each in HD whereas with Directv we get 8 HBO channels in HD and 8 HD Cinemax channels. We don't have Showtime or Starz but Directv gives you 10 each of those two in HD. So if I'm paying $25 for HBO/Cinemax I want to watch movies in HD, with Prism you only would get a total of 4 in HD compared to 16 with Directv, so we went with Directv since we were happy with them up north. As it turns out, only Directv has NFL Sunday ticket so I was able to watch all the NFL games last season, so I'm glad I stayed with Directv for that reason as well.
