Default The Villages Dog Friendly?

To the extent that any responsible community is dog friendly....1)keep your dog off of others property(that includes the lawns)as that is the law and only proper if you have respect for others and some common sense. 2) pick up after your dog in the dog parks and common areas. 3)don't go walking on the golf course with your dog(or without)after hours. It is not permitted and even though you'll likely get away with it it is wrong. 4)not everyone wants your dog sniffing them. A 6foot lead is the law. Those leads that extend beyond that are not legal, but many lazy owners could care less so don't be surprised when someone gets upset with you. 5)a dog is part of your family not others so don't expect them to act like it's human. 6)riding with your dog on your lap while driving is stupid. You not only don't have the reflexes you had when younger, you're easily distracted...so cut it out.

A community that is dog friendly also has dog owners who are responsible and respect the rights of others. Get with the program and don't be part of the problem. I love dogs, but some owners need extended training.

Exactly what is the purpose of this post?

You have just stated the very obvious facts.

Once again, why the post?

The fact that you need to express the obvious indicates there is a problem. I did not know those reel leashes were illegal but having a dog on your lap while driving should be. Good post.

I believe the purpose of this post is there are many considerate dog owners who will not let their dog on other peoples lawns and pick up after their pooch, but there are many others who do not.

Grandchildren driving carts, dogs pooping on my lawn, bicyclists gone wild, pedestrians walking on the cart path, speeding golf carts, drinking and driving carts, old, unfit automobile drivers, crazy lawn ornaments, Snowbirds, too much traffic, too much growth, stupid judges.
Why do 120,000 people, want to live here? I love TV...I must be some kind of nut.

Fred: I share your views, and include those dog owners that walk with their dogs off their leash.

concerns such as expressed here along with inconsiderate drivers, traffic etc are a symptom of the bigger problem expansion. whether a person is more adaptable or less tolerate has to do with expectations. I can tell you my definition of paradise doesn't include overcrowding.

boy wonder if I am going to find that heaven is overcrowded, that would just be hell

I get the point of # 5 you listed but my dog only thinks he's human when he's had way to much budweiser

Please reference you statement where leashes are outlawed. it they are against the law why are they for sale?

I have to raise the BS Flag and say another whinny post.

I'll didn't see it here and beings we live in three counties please state the law limit in the three counties.
Florida Dog Leash Laws - County by County :: Jacksonville, Florida Dog Bite Lawyer Wood, Atter & Wolf

You have say on your property, but common areas are not your property. Common areas were paid for by bonds which property owners paid for and pay for up keep by monthly amenities fees.

Only Championship golf course are private. Several resident courses have common paths running through and along side of them specially in the older districts.

You and I have No say so who or who can't be on property we don't own. We can bitch about it, but that's about it. Which this post seems to be about.

Sounds/looks to me like fred has thrown out the bait, standing back and watching/listening to the scramble.
