Holly Bush/Tree Trimming
I have a huge Holly Tree that needs trimming and have the following questions:
1. Is there a time of year that is best to trim a tree like this? 2. Has anyone trimmed a big holly tree that has any thoughts or suggestions? 3. Can you recommend anyone that has trimmed and shaped a Holly Tree for you? Thank you. |

I have several medium bushes and trim them through out year, some way back. So far I haven’t killed one yet. I have two tree/big holly bushes trimmed one way back on retaining wall side and shaped it. The tree shaped as pointee bush had junk palm the grew up in it crating big bare spot. I cut the palm out and it took about 3 years for fill in hole. I do this throughout the year, so IMO you can trim away basically throughout the year. I also pull all the sucker parasites off which IMO rob the plant from looking healthy.

I use Choice Maintenance for my bush trimming and I have a very tall holly tree. They've always done a good job.

These holly bushes were 18" tall ten years ago. In the corner to the left out-of-sight is a 20' tall holly tree. I have to trim everything about every 3 months. The wall behind the hedge is 7' high, so I try to stay level with the height of the wall.
This is all you need, a Black & Decker trimmer. If you get any branches that are too thick, just get one of these lopper shears. |
