Heads Up, You Liver Lovers!!
I will be posting a poll soon (as soon as I figure out how) about the group TOTV Liver Gala we talked about last winter.
If you are interested... It will ask you to vote for a few dates in April (after the Spring Breakies go home), and what restaurant, Toojays of Vic's Embers, to go to. Neither takes reservations. Vic's said they would talk to me about accommodating a group. I can't find a country club with liver on the menu. If you know of one that has it currently, please let me know. Mooooooooo |

Okay. I called Palmers. It went like this:
(me) Do you take reservations? (them) No. Unless it's a large group. (me) Do you serve liver and onions? (them) No. Our liver and onion group was here last week. (me) What did they eat? (them) Liver and onions. (me) So if we had a large group, could we get liver and onions and a reservation? (them) I think so. Call on Monday and talk to (name I have already forgotten). I was going to post the poll on Sunday evening, thinking it would get best coverage then as all liver lovers would be winding down from weekend activities and be checking in with the forum. Now I will wait till Monday and keep bumping it. I love a project! |

The Waterfront Inn at Sumter Landing had a L&O club there once when we went for dinner. There must have been at least 40 people. Give 'em a call.
I enjoy a good L&O meal a couple of times a year, but I'm used to LBO. The bacon is always missing here for some reason. Please, no sermons on chorlesterol with the added bacon. Mine is fine. |

I hate to say this, and believe me, I'm not recommending them, but Havana serves L&O on Mondays, I believe. I've never had it, afraid to, and I'm sure they don't have bacon with it.
Do you like Calves liver or can you eat beef liver? I can't eat the latter. Don't eat any of it anymore, although I LOVE IT, cholesterol wayyy too high.

I had liver & onions at McCalls Tavern in Spanish Springs. It was very good. Also I bet Pete at Tiera Del Sol CC would make it with some notice for a group.

Calves liver is the best in my opinion. It's very important that liver be de-veined by the chef before cooking, and not over cooked. Just about every recipe on the net calls for bacon. Sauteed Calves Liver with Onions and Bacon |

Liver & Onions
Please, please don't make it on Thurs. April 11th. I'm having a "Miche Pocketbook Party at my home on that date, and would hate to miss Liver & Onions. Hopefully the group will vote for the other dates. (By the way, anyone interested in the Miche Pocketbook Party, is welcome. I'm not selling it, (someone else is), but I offered to have the party, as a social thing). It's in Buttonwood. PM me if you're interested. I can't wait for Liver & Onions....it's been a long time. Calves liver, medium rare, smothered in onions. More mild and tender than beef liver.
Bacon is sometimes intended to ward off/compromise the sometimes "strong" flavor of beef liver. btk |

Okay, you come over to my house and make it for everybody. We'll have to repaint afterwards, though.
