First of all, make a list of things needed to be done, and prioritize it, with the most important first.

Second take deep breaths.

Third, go down the list until you are finished.

Fourth, you will get to the bottom so relax.

I found Carrie Wildman of the Villages Insurance, at the Brownwood location, to be very knowledgeable. 352.751.6622

Brad Burley of Greater Florida Insurance in Leesburg, is a close second. 352.365.1222

I can recommend Cunningham Home Watch service! We have been simply delighted with the service, the weekly reports, the thoroughness, and the helpfulness of Don and BK Cunningham! They treat your home exactly as if it were their own. We look forward to their weekly reports and videos. We also enjoy having them here to take deliveries and do pick-ups. I am so happy we found them! You will be, too!

Decide quickly if you plan to finance the property, who you plan to go with. I'm a member of a credit union, so I them since they had the best rates and closing costs. In hindsight, it didn't save that much, and they were very hard pressed to do a 30 day close. The local bank here was just a little more, and it would have been smoother. Closings here though are a breeze.

I agree Charlene is the best and will take great care of your home. I know she did ours.

Thanks, everyone! I went to the Crispers gathering this afternoon and felt much better after talking to several of you. What a great group!! So helpful. I really appreciate all of the time you spend supporting those of us who may be a bit less "experienced"!

I have a call in to "your" Mr. Dangelo about doing the home inspection. Waiting for a call back. Will have to rent a storage unit and gather whatever furniture I can in the next two weeks and hide it away. I'm watching the "stuff for sale" board here and I've dropped by Bargains and Treasures. Anyone have anything they are looking to sell??

What about homeowner's insurance? Who do you like? I assume I need someone down here, as my Vermont company is not going to be interested in insuring a home in Florida. If we are planning to rent the home for part of the year, so we need different/additional insurance?

My head is just spinning, but I know you all-knowing ones will calm me down. One step at a time, right????

My wife and I have a brown wicker bedroom set we want to sell. It was purchased less tha 2 years ago for $1,380 at Southern Life Styles. Will sell for $700. It includes a queen headboard, 6 drawer bureau with mirror, TV 3 drawer bureau that has a swivel top. Two night stands with 2 drawers each. Bed frame and two lamps included. All in perfect condition. Reply if interested.

All great advice. Just take it slow. Like one person said it does not have to be done all at once. Whatever u do, don't use House Masters for the inspection. They did not do a good inspection for us and we paid the price for it. Welcome to TV

Try Our Mother's Attic on 301 across from the Wildwood City Hall. It sells quality, gently used furniture, kitchenware, home decor etc. The profits from the store support the Wildwood Soup Kitchen and the food pantry. Give it a try! It is worth the trip. We bought our first house in 2006 and after we closed, we went to a store and furnished the entire house in 5 hours. It can be done. We did it all in a few days, because we were also going back and needed to rent it out ASAP.
