Smile Help..Converting 2 passenger golf cart to 4 passenger.

We notice a lot of 2 passenger golf carts that have been converted to 4 passenger carts. Any advice as to who does this conversion locally?

Many thanks in advance.

I don't know or any local shops, but I have watched YouTube videos on how to do the job. It would probably be less expensive to sell a 2 seat cart and then a factory built 4 seat cart.

Personally, I do not know of a company that does this, but dealers told me that you need to beef up the suspension to compensate for the additional weight. In addition, I would not ride on the backwards facing seat. Probably a better idea would be to trade in your 2 seater for the factory 4 seater. Market is still good for used carts.

For sure, upgrade the suspension to a stiffer system to account for the extra weight aft of the rear wheels.

I did this myself on my last cart. There are a number of kits sold online - I got one with pretty good seats, and it cost me $700 for the kit. I also purchased the upgraded springs for a heavier load - it was about $50 for those parts. Took me an afternoon to install it.

My kit was by MadJax and I got it from TNT cart parts - Madjax Rear Flip Seats - Fits Club Car, EZ-GO, Yamaha Golf Carts

It's not that hard.

Default Here’s another option

I recently saw a fellow who is at some of the squares and craft shows that actually has a trailer conversion that adds two additional seats and you just attach to your cart. This is made just for golf carts. So or do not have info at hand.

This has been mentioned before. There is an art to towing a trailer. On the golf cart paths, some of the turns are far too sharp to SAFELY, take with a trailer. Drivers on the golf cart paths? No shortage of inattentive issues. Few golf cart drivers trying to negotiate some of the road sections, would ever expect the person you are waiting for has a trailer still in the tunnel. Backing up with a trailer is also a learning a new skill.

OPINION-before adding one of those seat kits, or same kits installed may I suggest you ride in one. We can go in my golf cart. Did it once. No thanks we will meet you there. Kids? Hum where did we loose John?

The four passenger golf carts with all the seats facing the same way are more comfortable but you need to have room in your garage.

OP, be SURE to install seat belts for the rear facing passengers, as there is nothing to keep them in their seats.

Default Extra seat

Had an 2 seat kit installed on my cart by D/C Golf Cart. Very pleased with their work. They matched the upholstery to match my front seat exactly. The back seat folds down so I can take my dog on the back. I highly recommend them. They will pick up your cart and bring it back. They have a booth at Marion Market. Their number is 352.553.3227.

Unless you will be hauling four people a lot of the time, you probably won't like the two seat to four seat conversion. We bought a 2016 two seater converted to a four seater and found the ride was much stiffer and more uncomfortable all of the time. And since we didn't haul four people all that much of the time, after a couple years we traded in the four seater for just a two seater....and we're much happier with the ride comfort now. (We had upgraded seats in both carts FYI.)

Unless you have a need of 4 passengers all the time, rent a cart the times you have 2 additional passengers, (you never mentioned how often you needed the additional passenger seats). There are a lot of issues to be considered for your project.

I apologize. I thought the original question was about carts with a second row of forward facing seats (the long carts). I would never make anyone sit backwards.

Both types make the cart too long to perpendicular park on the side of the road, though people still do it.

I paid $900 for a flip up kit for my EZ-Go. Installed myself. The Villages Golf Carts would do it for $1000 but it was a 3 month wait at the time. Since I had replaced my battery with lithium and reduced my cart weight by 300 pounds, I did not change the suspension.

I ordered the kit from GolfCartTireSupply.com.

It's okay. Miss the basket. Golf clubs aren't perfectly vertical. But I have visitors often enough that I'd do it again.

Nice. Is that a Model 3 to the right?
